Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything.

can't wait until stephano wins another big event so people can shut their mouth and realize how dumb is the EG curse.

Pretty sure Thorzain supports the theory. He hasn't posted any results, and went out in first round of TSL4 when defending his title...

Guess it's easier to argue when you can just talk out of your ass and not put any effort into verifying your statements? You're forgetting a 1st place finish and a code A performance .

Which Code A performance ? He lost in Code A against arguably the worst known korean PvTer in the world.

Oh you mean the guy who took the best player in the world to game 7 in his first code s finals? Let's hear you explain that away . And please compare advancing out of the first round of code A to other foreigner performances .

Have you ever heard about JYP ? I guess no. Also FYI he didn't advance out of the first round of Code A as he finished 3rd in his Code S group. Get your facts right before acting all high and mighty.

Ah, my mistake about JYP. Although "worst Korean PvTer in the world" is as you know an exaggeration. We maybe could change it to "worst code A PvTer at the time" in which case it's not saying much given the level of talent in code A. And yes you could nitpick about whether it was technically the first round of code A that he won, but it does seem like you're intentionally ignoring the gumiho victory which is interesting.

Where the fuck do you see me ignoring his victory over gumiho ? I stated that he finished 3rd in his code s group which implies that he beat someone. Yes I didn't name the player he beat but because that wasn't the point. You talked about some imaginary "code a performance" so why should I bring gumiho in this discussion ? he beat him in his code s group.

From what I have heard (I'm not that into the SC2 scene) he wants to earn as much money as possible before he starts to study again. This seems like the right move then

Of all the Korean Teams you had to use Team 8.

I'd love to see him on a KeSPA team. That would be awesome to see a player like him team up with guys like Sea and the Dong.

I feel like Stephano never depended on a team in terms of practice. He always did his thing, regardless of what team he was on. I bet he'll coninue to dominate, just now while getting a shitton of money.

I don't like that at all........

EG is doing exactly what MYM and SK-Gaming did und what ultimately made the WC3-Scene collapse: They buy all the good players for sums nearly no other team can compete with, therefore driving up the price the players want as their salary and destroying all teams (both financially and with their in-game results) that don't have the funding that EG does.

Also, I really began to like Millenium and I was looking forward to rooting for the Underdog (that still had chances to upset big teams) in the next big team-league. They did a great job helping good players to become top-tier (stephano, feast and, to maybe a lesser extent also Adelscott and Diestar) and they made some really great dicisions picking up players like ForGG, that are now just wrecking face and popular and promising players like Dragon.

Now, when their roster begins to look really strong, EG comes and picks up Stephano, knowing that they can easily make him an offer Millenium can't match and Stephano can't refuse.

It's also really sad, cuz we see how much Millenium tried to keep Stephano and how much they've invested in him.

Of course, it's pretty stupid to blame either EG or Stephano, both are doing what they think is best for them, but I'm just not too fond of the situation and I can already see problems with that arise in the future.

If SC2 esports can't survive the strains of capitalism, then it can't survive. There is no point in coddling it if it's actually that weak.

So in your opinion, every team, sponsor, league, player etc. can do whatever they want financially and if it doesn't work out - well, god didn't want it to happen that way then...

I like to think a bit more pragmatic: There are things you can do that benefit SC2 as an industry, but there are definitely things that can turn out to be harmful. I'm not saying what EG does will definitely destroy SC2 as an eSport, but from what eSport should've learned with WC3 (which was incredibly huge for a long time, especially in China), EG is doing sth. that is worth talking and thinking about to a greater extent.

Besides that, I don't think EG is doing themselves a favour by picking up good players from other teams, often surrounded by a controversy and often leaving the former team in the rain with one of their best players now on EG. EG didn't do anything to grow Stephano as a player as of yet and other recent pickups like Thorzain also didn't benefit from the transfer (as of yet), so for me, it looks like EG is taking credit for the hard work of others, just by handing out huge amounts of cash. Therefore, just getting bigger because they are already big, absorbing other players/teams.... You can see how that can lead to a problematic situation if it goes on exactly like this, right?

Makes them look greedy, overly money-dependant, insecure with their line-up as it was before the new acquisition and insecure in their ability to develop and help new talents.

Thats why I think the pick-up of Suppy was much smarter from EG and made them appear in a more sympathetic light.

Well if he truly has that practice schedule i doubt a kespa team wants him tough. Unless they find a way to make him practice as much as the rest.
