Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything. |

You guys ought to drop those comparisons because they are unfounded. Yankees not only have the history but the actual dynasty to go along with it. EG has neither. They have great sponsors and support. They can certainly afford a lot of players, but do they get the results? Not so much.
It's all about marketing.
They're more like the Toronto Maple Leafs. Who have a ton of money and great sponsorships but they take way too much pride in just being the Toronto Maple Leafs and with the overexposure they don't perform up to snuff a lot of the time. Toronto gets a lot of guys who are no longer at their peak value.
The difference here still is history as well. The Toronto Maple Leafs have way too much pride in their history. EG's is still pretty short, but you can see the similar characteristics.
Yankees are usually always in the equation. EG isn't. They can buy all the guys they want from the small market teams. That's fine and Mill will still benefit from selling the rest of the guy's contract off.
Plus there are a few new kids on the block as well once the player freeze wears off.
P.S. eventually the curse has to wear off. If there is a player who can most certainly help it's Stephano, but you still have to treat a Ferrari like Fing Ferrari and not a stupid Chevy.
Got to make him work.

Although I dislike Stephano I hope he brings EG up to his level of success. Hopefully now we will see improvement from all the people who were so great such a short time ago. Remember when IdrA and Huk were the foreigners to beat. They were the ones that were feared at tournaments and now we see them nowhere. I hope that if he does go to EG we see a resurgence because I <3 IdrA!

EG is doing exactly what MYM and SK-Gaming did und what ultimately made the WC3-Scene collapse: They buy all the good players for sums nearly no other team can compete with, therefore driving up the price the players want as their salary and destroying all teams (both financially and with their in-game results) that don't have the funding that EG does.
Also, I really began to like Millenium and I was looking forward to rooting for the Underdog (that still had chances to upset big teams) in the next big team-league. They did a great job helping good players to become top-tier (stephano, feast and, to maybe a lesser extent also Adelscott and Diestar) and they made some really great dicisions picking up players like ForGG, that are now just wrecking face and popular and promising players like Dragon.
Now, when their roster begins to look really strong, EG comes and picks up Stephano, knowing that they can easily make him an offer Millenium can't match and Stephano can't refuse.
It's also really sad, cuz we see how much Millenium tried to keep Stephano and how much they've invested in him.
Of course, it's pretty stupid to blame either EG or Stephano, both are doing what they think is best for them, but I'm just not too fond of the situation and I can already see problems with that arise in the future. If SC2 esports can't survive the strains of capitalism, then it can't survive. There is no point in coddling it if it's actually that weak.

The schedule is perfect. 1) Stephano joins EG in the fall. 2) Stephane hinted that he will probably play GSL in the fall. 3)He will likely fail in GSL as he himself stated that it is not his kind of format thus beautifully fertilizing the "EG-curse".

1) Why is everyone ignoring the fact that it's a capitalist market? 2) Why is everyone mad that Stephano is worth a lot and is following the money? 3) Any which idiot compared EG to the Yankees? Got Rings?

Guess it's easier to argue when you can just talk out of your ass and not put any effort into verifying your statements? You're forgetting a 1st place finish and a code A performance .

Last Major Win:
-ThorZaIN: April 2012 - DreamHack EIZO Open: Stockholm. Hasn't placed higher then 17th since then. Signed with EG in May 2012 -DeMusliM: No wins, got to the round of 8 during IEM Sao Paulo. Signed With EG January 2011 -IdrA: October 2011 - IEM Global Challenge Guangzhou, hasn't been able to get passed the round of 16 since December. Signed with EG in September 2010. -HuK: October 2011 - MLG Orlando, hasn't won anything since then. But placed 3rd in MLG Winter Arena and 4th in Winter Challenge. Failed to place higher then 19-24, since MLG WC. Signed with EG in August 2011. -PuMa: December 2011 - NASL Season 2, only EG member to have success since his last victory with two 2nd place finishes at DreamHack Winter / IEM World Championship. Signed with EG in July 2011. -Suppy: No major wins as of yet, lack of data on liquidpedia. Signed with EG in JUly 2012. -JYP: No major wins, but placed 3rd at HomeStory Cup IV. Signed with EG in December 2011.
Rest of EG: No wins.
But Huk did prove at the Winter Arena that he is still one of the top non-Koreans around, beating all other non-Koreans who earned their place at the Arena because they placed high at their regional qualifiers.
People shouldn't read too much into the "no 1st place finishes". In fact, 1st place finishes are extremely rare, now that Koreans great players are roaming on the international tournament scene.

It would be interesting though if a Korean team picked up Stephano. o__O Like, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a Korean team has ever contracted any foreigners. Hahaha. I would love for there to be a first time

I hope its true, he is perfect for Evil Geniuses. GL Stephano and EG
