No it wont be. We still have season 4 coming up and then Season 5 at IPL5 and then Blizzard Cup is what im guessing. Who says GSL season 5 will be played at IPL5? I am assuming it's season 4, which only starts at the end of the month because of WCS Korea being broadcast by GOM currently. And that then lines up nicely with the end of September (maybe early October) for Ro8.

After last finals they really need something special like this to make up for it.

I think we can all agree that weekend tournaments lead to a lot of exciting and nailbiting finals. Great fun to watch. Preparation tournaments can be a little more boring. But we already have lots of weekend tournaments, we don't need GSL to fill that role. Whereas we don't have an excess of (live / on-site) preparation tournaments at the moment.

Haha alright, gotta love the open-mindedness :p So you telling me what I like is "open-mindedness"?^^

I'll take a great exciting event and finals over a boring 4-0 finals with no tension any time. You're entitled to like the boring finals of course.

Scarlett.. what?
Oh mana.. kk good.

Cool!
Team Liquid should send IPL a thanks card for this. Considering how Taeja seems to have flair for low-preparation games, having little to no preparation time for ro4 and the finals should be in his favour (assuming he makes it to ro8 again + wins ro8!).
Edit: Oh yeah let me suggest a foreigner team. Pick whoever wins WCS Europe, WCS NA, WCS SA, WCS Oceania, and WCS Asia (best non-korean). (assuming these events are held before IPL 5).
If I were to pick 5 players, I'd go with: Zerg: Stephano + Nerchio. Terran: Kas + Major. Protoss: Naniwa + Macsed.

I don't really like the idea of having concurrent tournaments overseas, because the players in the GSL are super fatigued and the quality of their games dips. Its one thing to have the finals, but to have the entire play-offs in Vegas is a bit much. I feel sorry for the players .. jetlag + 2 major tournaments.. thats gonna be insanity for anyone trying that

As if there hasn't been terrible finals on weekend tournaments, recently NASL S3 being one of the worst I've ever seen.

Yeah Game 7 MMA v. DRG was probably the greatest ever game given the circumstances (and Artosis going crazy.) And MVP v. Squirtle and MMA v. DRG were just unbelievably incredible series. Leenock vs. Jjakji I wouldlnt put quite on the level of MVP/Squirtle and MMA/DRG but it was still a fantastic series as well.

they will have time to prepare for the ro8, the ro4 they will probably have at least several hours, and the final, they'll have a full day. that's far more prep time than most tournaments

I think hosting ro8 - finals takes away from the GSL notion of preparing for your opponents. I'm not really sure how it'll turn out but hopefully it turns out good.
|
I think this will be good

No, no, no, no. GSL is awesome because of the fact that it's not just one-two days but spread out over a longer term meaning that players can prepare. Hosting the finals themselves is fine. Having 2 rounds + finals in 2-3 days is not fun.
