They both have 4k resources at the 22 minute mark. Neither hit max yet.

Terran low on gas with 3.5k minerals so day9 says he has "impeccable" macro.

well the problem was tanks are fucking dead instantly if zealots get to them or immortals... terran needed a proper support unit... god forbid toss needs to find proper positioning to engage a terran army now.

What kind of positioning did the Terran in that game do?

I WANT mech to be viable, giving Terran a warhound which shreds everything but zealots and archons, and battle hellions which shred zealots, without even microing or having immobility issues is beyond ridiculous.

1. I turned off audio b/c I could not stand D9's hype contrary to what was going on.

2. Whole design philosophy is terrible. Warhound, tempest, battle hellion, widow mine, and all the other units implemented are stupid. At this point the only unit in the whole HOTS that is even slightly redeeming is the swarm host, and that's not much.

Please Blizzard, at this point you'd be much better copying BW units and giving them new names and looks. Please do it, despite your pride. You will have created a much better game by doing so.

You don't think a better player would use faster hellions for harass? That they wouldn't place their tanks carefully instead of haphazardly a-moving over the map and sieging up all at once? That they wouldn't support their main army with carefully placed widow mines?

Try to understand that the game will be balanced around the top level of play. If a unit like the hellion can change between harassing and tanking damage, you will be required to do so. If tanks can benefit from better tank placement, you will be required to place them carefully against a protoss who knows what they're doing.

Having a silly showmatch where bad players a-move balls of units against each other doesn't change that.

the terran had good positioning while the toss mindlessly went up ramps and put a'lot of food and money into making tempest which did not pay off at all... they don't seem to be a unit that mixes well in a death ball versus mech as they can't dish out the proper dps at all.. If the toss had invested his money properly and looked to abuse positioning of the terran more by trying to attack flanks as well the game would have gone much differently. I'm done with this thread.

toss already has warp in why give them a warp out (recall) that easily? it makes warp prism harassment just extremely powerful because you can just warp in an army then warp out.

I just don't get why you'd even bother making tanks in TvP. You can basically do the same thing for cheaper and more mobility with warhound/battle hellion. And as a result you have more money for vikings and anti-air.

There was nothing that seemed fun or interesting to me about this battle report and I have the distinct feeling that once HoTS comes out we're going right back to square one in terms of game design and balance.

Obviously it's not a showcase of balance or good play, it is a showcase of the design philosophy that Blizzard are currently pursuing. Terran is an interesting, well-rounded race in terms of its current design, perhaps a bit difficult to play in comparison to the other two races (I play Protoss). Rather than try to extend this well-rounded design to the other races, they're dumbing down Terran to make it easier

The fact that it tells you how many workers are on each base is so stupid. What the hell is the point of economy management if the game tells how saturated your bases are...
