They aren't 100% invite based, they added 2 qualifier tournaments this time. 8 out of 32 players come from those.
I stand corrected in regards to Assembly then. 8 out of 32 is not bad at all. And you can even say 9 out of 32 as Naama qualified through a LAN
IdrA doesn't bring more viewer than HerO or TaeJa. It's fallacious to say that IdrA being invited is a marketing decision, he isn't as marketable as he used to be : his disastrous lack of performances as well as his incessant whining and bad manners whenever he loses would make any sponsor looks like they sponsor a kid's playground. Oh and he didn't win the last Assembly, Polt won against Stephano.
As for people accusing me of believing in conspiracy theory, it's a fact that fraer and slivko played their games last in DH. I am not accusing them of cheating, I'm just trying to prevent this kind of situation to re-appear. And everybody should do the same because if organizations don't act, players are more likely to be tempted. Don't change the players, change the rules.

After the recent patch idra is doing a lot better. There is about no competition for him in the NA-server. So i think he deserves the invite no doubt. Time to show it in tournaments now.

Yeah that's true, i forgot about Naama winning his spot at vectorama. It's actually a nice ratio of invites and qualifiers and it can create storylines with up-and-coming players coming through qualifiers facing off with seasoned pros.

This time at ASUS ROG we have GSL style double elimination groups which don't allow a similar situation to occur.

Evn if we consider DeMusliM to have had good results lately with the WCS, IdrA has been in the depths of hell since a long time ago.
The rest of the invites are fine even if NightEnd is a enigma. And please make sure that fraer and TiTaN play their games first should they be in the same group. We don't want lame excuses this time.
Unfortunately, Idra will continue to bring in viewers to any competition he attends. That decision is likely decided while including both his play and viewership.
He is 3-0 at the moment in the HSC, maybe this will be his breakout/return.
edit: "Unfortunate" because his invite could potentially have taken away a spot for a more deserving player.

every name there could have been replaced with better more deserving players, so whats the point? And Idra is not even the worst player on this list, so why discuss it?

I can't count on one hand the amount of players who are similar to IdrA in their ability to draw attention without results. Therefore, any time that he is invited to a tournament, there will be a valid discussion about whether or not his invite is warranted or deserved.
