People aren't trying to figure out whether he actually issues minimap commands, they are trying to figure out if minimap command can or can not be an explanation for the behavior in the current replay. If they can not then he is certainly map hacking. If this technique did work it could also be automated which would be nice, as you can could scan a huge library of replays to find offenders.

One thing for the community could do is to save replays for ALL online tournaments and tons of random ladder games in a giant database. If at any point in a future a reliable way to detect map hackers is discovered then players can be caught with past games.

That's how it happened in BW and tons of players got busted. It means even if your hack is undetectable at the moment you risk being caught in the future.

I know one of the contributors who were in the development of this particular hack, it's been undetected for 3 seasons straight, it used to be a private hack but it was released to the public. It's very sophisticated and it's the only "Warden-proof" hack on the internet that is not a private hack, for StarCraft 2, that is.

Basically what he's saying is that Spades must be using (not named). How he came to this conclusion I do not know.

Although, even a 30 second search tells me (not named) is not the only publicly available hack.. Although it has been undetected for many months now, so it fits his description of the hack.

Well, there are other public hacks available, but they're not safe since season 7/8.

The only reason I know of this is because I've had first hand experience with the hack+ Show Spoiler +

on a Starter Edition, never used on other players

, for educational purposes. I code A.I. in Flash for school/sparetime(homework)

I don't know any technical stuff about the part of the maphack that reveals Fog of War, because that's not really my area, but I know a bit of the automated actions.

Everything other than the camera lock can be done purely passively, i.e. externally. These hacks are in theory undetectable by Blizzard because there is a law preventing them from scanning your general memory for it, and they have no effect internally so Warden can't find it amongst SC2's ram.

Yeah, I know of that, but that's just a maphack and perhaps some U.I. showing production or army value as well as resources, but I only mentioned the automated commands as an example to what could be definitive proof. Send me p/m's as of now, please, I'll be more than happy to help but I want to play Battlefield now

I'm not actually looking for maphack signatures lol, I think you misunderstand. I'm just interested in trying to disprove any signatures people think they found, for the argument/defense.

His reaction to being found out was too suspicious anyways. If I were a progamer accused of maphacking I would be taking a lot more time to prove myself innocent, or at least more time to rage.

The thread is unwinding. It's only a matter of time before he comes back and admits to the hacking now... I promise he's monitoring this thread, waiting to see if anyone can prove him a hacker before he admits it.

The screenshot only supports this, despite the fact that on it's own I'm not sure how it's definitive proof.

This is 100% conclusive. Really smart of the OP.
Here's the laymen's version if you're having trouble understanding -
Say you have a "real map" that is 1000x1000, and a "minimap" that is 100x100. This means that all of your clicks on the minimap are essentially multiplied by 10 to determine where they would fall on the real map. ie: clicking on 25x50 on the minimap would correspond to 250x500 on the real map, 46x89 would correspond to 460x890 on the real map, etc...etc...
According to Spades, he was clicking on the minimap to perform a lot of actions instead of scrolling into the fog of war to perform those same actions. The problem is that, during the replay, Spades screen is locked so that he must be clicking the minimap, but the clicks he's making are too precise to come from the minimap. Using our previous example, Spades is essentially claiming to be clicking a point like 252x582 on the minimap, which is impossible, as the closest we could get to that point is 25x58 or 26x59 on our minimap. Given the dimensions of the minimap, he is clicking with a precision that is impossible on the real map.
Clicks with that precision on the real map while the screen is locked means that one can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that Spades is maphacking.

Yeah. And after rereading it a couple times it sounds like he's talking about it as if rolling his eyes you know? Like he's being facetious when he says 'like your a computer programmer hahahah' and it sounds like Brian is incredulous that people would think he is capable of making his own private super hack that can do more than the one he is describing.

Of course, this can also just be the guilty party trying to make it seem like a big joke to a friend
