You have to provide some kind of evidence/proof (screenshots/replays etc.) if you are going to accuse somebody.
Additionally, a supporting comment of what people should be looking for and when will be necessary if you are posting replays/evidence. |

Good think Blizzard takes hacking and anti-hack support seriously!
Most of these in the last few hundred pages have been QQ posts and people crying because they lost, majority of them are not even map hackers. This thread use to be moderated and the real hackers posted on the First page when looked at by pros and other high level players.
The OP no longer deals with this thread, think nunez went back to school or something. This thread has not been managed in a year and some change.

Seriously I don't understand how hard it is for Blizzard to hire ONE guy to look through replays to confirm hackers. Then just mass-ban hackers on a weekly basis and people would get the massage. SC2 player base is tiny compared to other Blizzard games, and the number of reports per day should be adequately handled by just ONE guy.
No real need for technically challenging anti-hack measures, just one dude at $12/hr for 4-5 hrs everyday.
The fact that they're not doing this just shows that Blizzard doesn't give a fuck.

If possible in the future, hopefully we'll be able to circumvent blizzard completely. They have shown absolutely zero support when it comes to what they're doing with hackers, we keep asking, but they keep not delivering. I'd be fine with using something like iccup again but for sc2, or something where you can opt in to have your pc scanned as you play.

LOL. Map hacking more obvious than this doesn't exist.

Put together a team and parse any replays of suspect hackers that get dropped in here. I'll donate 10 cents for every hacker confirmed, put on the front page, and subsequently reported by the mob and successfully banned.

With the best will in the world, I'm afraid that's horse shit.
This is circumstantial evidence of hacking in that, while a map hacker would behave like this, so could anyone who just went all-in with a 1/2 chance of picking the correct spot.

This is also horse shit. When you're banning people for hacking you need a false positive rate of about zero. Even if you only ban one innocent person per hundred guilty you're in a terrible position, as I'm sure you'd agree if you happened to be, or knew someone who was, that one innocent that got banned. Because you need to be virtually positive that anyone you ban is guilty the time cost per hacker is going to be much much larger than you think. As an example this thread managed to hit 10ish hackers a month when it was running and I'm betting that a LOT more useless replays get submitted to Blizzard than got submitted here as here you're placing your TL account next to a claim rather than just firing off an email into the void.
The reason anti-hack measures are attractive is that you implement them once and it hits hundreds or thousands of people. If you've done it right, you hit no innocents; you hit no one who wasn't doing what your program was looking for. It also stops people from hacking again, at least in the same way. As attractive as it is, it's also a task that's expensive and never complete.
Blizzard should do more, but some guy in a basement on minimum and a half is not more, it's stupid.

Agreed on the bolded part only, but I also can call hog shit on the rest of your post. You seem to think that you actually need to catch a large proportion of hackers in order for the human screening method to be effective, which is hog shit. In reality, banning even just 10% of reported hackers on a weekly basis will send a clear message to the rest. You're forgetting that hackers would basically be treading on thin ice every game they play; sooner or later they slip up (as in, hack in an obvious and irrefutable manner). The percentage of confirmable hackers in this thread is definitely a LOT more than 10%.
Blizzard would only need to ban the blatant hackers; and let me clarify on this point. Like you said, blind in-base proxy on a 3 player map would not be bannable; but adjusting one's army movement time and time again with absolutely no vision? Definitely should result in a ban.
Moreover, algorithms and patterns recognition should be used to the system's advantage. I.e., multiple reports on the same player would warrant more screening time, and using the in-base proxy example again, one report would not warrant a ban. But 20 games in a row guessing correctly? That's a 1/2^20 probability, and should permit more than enough confidence for a ban.
Lastly, if they actually invested into the reporting system, players would reciprocate in kind. Just a quick example off the top of my head - specifically request players to time stamp suspicious moments in the replay so you could quickly jump to those moments, in order to improve screen efficiency. Also, it should be very simple to screen the replays that are NOT indicative of hacking very quickly this way, so you can easily eliminate most of the reporting based on rage which would leave you with an even smaller sample of truly suspicious replays.
I know the mentality of a maphacker all too well because I myself used to maphack in Broodwar; in fact I played in clan wars for 2 years before I was caught. I was always careful to hide my hacking, but in the end, I slipped up and there was no possible explanation for what I did that one fateful game. So I repeat, you don't need to get them all in one day, because sooner or later they always slip up. Even just plastering a message upon sc2 client login warning hackers that active screening is taking place would be tremendously effective; fear is a pretty damn good deterrence. The fact that they're doing NOTHING just sends the opposite message to hackers and emboldens them.
In a perfect world, of course the best method of dealing with hackers is systematic prevention client-side. However, since that's not current possible, doing the next best thing is infinitely better than doing nothing.

Feel free to demonstrate that the guy does this strategy more often and misses the target in 50% of the cases. Unless you do, the verdict is "guilty".

Hello, Now that this thread is so long it's hard to find what i'm looking for.
I remember a long time in here (or not) that there was a way to compare player replays. I have one of my teammates accused of aliasing (someone else playing on his account) and i want to compare replays of this to hopefully sort this out.
Is there a method in scelight to do that ? Or another thing ? I don't really know how you can compare something like that but i remebered that it happened in this thread.

This is literally impossible. He typed the message to fool you and already had the colo / hallucinated.

Damn I gotta try this. Gunna troll lower leagues with a shitty macro main base while ninja'ing 2 others. Let my opponent kill my main, type IIIIIIIIIIII has left the game!, walk 8 colossi into his base, and savor the rage and tears of hacking accusation.

Ok, I see your points.... I'd just like to point out that I did ask if it is a hack and didn't accuse anyone per se. But as I also indicated I am new to SC2 and wasn't aware a hallucination spell existed (i mean who would use it these days!)
Anyway, the fact is you guys gave me hope to keep on playing in a sterile environment and that's what counts. For that I thank you
