A similar feature has been added to dota 2, allowing spectators to draw on the map, but I've never seen it used (except when casters first heard of it and played around a bit). There's simply no time to draw figures on the map while the game is progressing, but sounds like a great tool for someone like Day9 who wants to analyse a game after the fact and highlight important tactics etc. JP used this today during the MLG qualifiers.

I think a tool like this would be a very solid complement to this specific moment of a game cast, bringing forth points far more effectively, especially when adressing a more casual audience who may not be familiar enough with SC2 to grasp the intricacies of a map relative to specific match-up, and could use the extra graphical help to better convey the importance of positional play in SC2.

Still very interesting! It is better than trying to draw arrows (a rectangle) with the unit selection box. I think this could have great use in SC2.

Edit: Is there a way to hotkey the draw tools? clicking the menus might cause the casters to miss things in the game.

Haha that was pretty good man. On topic, I agree, in the right hands this should only improve the viewing experience.

Biggest thing is hotkeys - that way casters don't have to open the menu and take away from the action. Besides that, a much needed tool that a lot of casters can get some good use out of for sure.

I think it would work well if done right. In the wrong hands it will just get in the way of people trying to watch the game though.
