Today Evil Geniuses (EG), North America's premier professional gaming team and a world leader in e-Sports, is excited to welcome DreamHack Stockholm Champion and well-known Swedish StarCraft II pro Marcus "ThorZaIN" Eklöf to the team's StarCraft II division.
Now with Evil Geniuses, Marcus will be given the support needed to pursue his goal of becoming one of the world's best StarCraft II players. Immediately following his attendance at Major League Gaming's Anaheim event in June, the Swedish Terran will be sent to the SlayerS house to train indefinitely alongside legendary players like EG.PuMa, EG.JYP, MMA and BoxeR.

Evil Geniuses breaks new ground by avoiding announcements of announcements and goes against the tide of Koreans being the expect typical new recruit/pick-up for a major team. With PuMa as the Korean forefront for Terran for Evil Geniuses, they now pick-up a favourite of the foreigners since TSL 3: ThorZaIN to both add some personality to the team as well as recuperate the reputation of foreigners across the board.
ThorZaIN, already a natural to take DreamHack this year and invited to Team Liquid's own major event (TSL4), this looks like a strong line-up for Evil Geniuses. ThorZaIN currently boasts over 15 major placements over a period of three years since 2010.
We expect to see Evil Geniuses to use ThorZaIN in the areas they seem to lack the most: Team Leagues. With their poor results in the NASL Team-League and IPL TAC2 and their middle-position currently in their own Masters Cup, EG may very well use their newly acquired Terran player to win both IPL TAC3 and add some kick back in the Masters Cup before things get really difficult.
As mentioned above, ThorZaIN is also expected to train within the SlayerS house as well as represent EG during the MLG Spring Arena #2.
On the move, ThorZaIN comments on this:
Things might seem to be going well for me lately, but the truth is that before Dreamhack Stockholm, I was having second thoughts about continuing pursuing a career as a progamer. I want to get an education, and I can't wait forever. I spent a lot of time thinking about my next move in life.
Then, even before I won Dreamhack Stockholm, I was contacted by Evil Geniuses, as they knew that my contract was about to expire and were interested in working together with me. They offered me things that would let me take at least one more year off from school, without feeling bad about it. A big part of this was the possibility to stay in Korea in the SlayerS house and also being on the same team with some of the greatest players in the industry. It took me a long time to decide on what to do, but in the end, I chose to join Evil Geniuses in what will hopefully be a prosperous year for both parties.
