Okay, what does this have to do with "beta" status? read once again the post , it has the answers you are asking for.

Im expecting it will be, if not, that will at least finally seal the deal on whether Blizz had indeed become this money whore that is ripping off its costumers which a lot of people are accusing them to be, or they had good intentions with SC2 and Bnet but just screwed up.

Would be the first time a patch would require a addon, or? Take Warcraft III - Reign of Chaos for example. There is a Patch 1.26a for RoC and for the Addon TFT (and, the patch is dated 2011, so Blizz is pretty much the same as today). Not a patch for only TFT. And there are also balance changes and new features in that patch and not only bug fixes. Yeah, Blizz may decide to only add these features to HotS, but it would be the first time.

Every other scrub developer managed to deliver those things a long time ago.. aka Blizzard themselves. The complain is that features were consciously scrapped. The technology was already there, but was omitted in favor of other things. If you take away what people liked of your products, then yes, the customer has every right to complain. To call it beta is perfectly valid, since the majority of concerns were already raised in beta and were dismissed up until the expansion. Then yes, they are finishing a product just now.

Most software is improved by its developer for years after its release, including by adding features that were on the wish list but not implemented for initial release (and every feature that is not present in a piece of software was "omitted in favor of other things", that's how the world works in the absense of a programming team of infinite size). I've never programmed on a piece of software that shipped feature complete in the sense that no new features would ever be added to it. If SC2 were crashing or was unplayable due to missing features we could complain about it being unfinished. You're saying they released a beta version of their software, but what you're describing is your dissatisfaction with the priorities they gave various features, which is an entirely different issue.

Does this mean that players will be matched with players of similar MMR but that wins/losses won't count towards a rank?

YES!!!! no more fear for me in 1v1! Now there is no point to get into ladder matches with that amazing un-ranked matchmaking!

You get new cgi videos. You get new multiplayer units. You get new battle.net features. For a price of an expansion pack. Yes, totally like a rip off DLC which gives you 5 more multiplayer map, of which 2 was already used in a game 1 year before. Madness.

The only reason I can think of to play unranked matches is to play an off-race. Ranked matches are pretty good at matching people up against people at around the same skill level, and for measuring progress. If you want to get better and not stay completely static in skill, ranked matches are pretty much the only way to go until you're pro... Think of it this way: you play people unranked constantly at the skill level your ladder rank indicates you are at. When you're getting better, that skill increase is not reflected in changing opponents any longer, because your ladder rank isn't updating. Suddenly your growth is limited because you can't play against better opponents.
