How dare Blizzard re add features Grrrrrr. Should have left Bnet as it is. Its almost like they realized they screwed up and are trying to correct their mistake it makes me soooo mad.
Nobody is saying that those features are "new" or that they shouldn't have been there since day1. Everybody is happy because Blizzard listened to us and fixed their mistakes. Stop trying to sound more intelligent and that you are not "falling" for Blizzards scam.
If we resented companies for all their past mistakes we should still be hating on Valve. Especially in an age where stuff like online passes exist and content is locked away on disc I am pretty happy that Blizzard is still working on stuff we demanded(and rightfully so!)

These are great announcements but doesn't take away from the fact that WoL was disappointing in many regards when it was released and still is in many ways. However, this does make me a lot more optimistic about the future of SC2.
Also, don't ever give us LAN, gamers need something to complain about, always :D
I'm curious what they will do with my multiple SC2 licences tied to one account once Global Play is implemented, basically actually having a choice at the Character Selection screen? That first part sums up my feelings fairly well. They made some rather large missteps with WoL, and it shows that the future of SC2 may not be as bleak as it has seemed as of late. They need to do much more for me to regain my feelings about them from the WC2-D2 days, but it's a move in the right direction.

If everything was implemented in WoL, no one will pay attention on that. But if take away good things and then bring them back, everyone will hail Blizzard and happy, how they're good and gods of gaming industry

Wow a lot of people in here feel extremely entitled. Its not entitled when we'er going to have to pay for the privilege of them providing standard features they removed. I'm happy their putting this stuff back in, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here.. they held off for 2 years with a substandard product so they could attach it to the expansion so we'd have to pay for something we should have had in the first place. No one is forcing you to pay man. Hell, no one forced you to pay for the "substandard product" that WoL is(your words). If you think that it's not worth the money, just don't buy... It's a free world.
I think that Blizzard listened to the customers and did their best to improve their product. Now I'm even more excited about HotS...

Guys seriously. WoL should had these "new" features. These aren't new. These features already used at BW, W3 and other games. They didn't put it into WoL and they forced us to buy HotS. So I agree with Zephyr.
But I agree. This is a marketing strategy and they really did their job well. Agree. But thats how business works... I guess. I for one, am sick and tired of the 'Oh they're a company, of course they're out to make money' argument people love to throw out when others criticise the actions of Blizzard, EA, and other big gaming corporations. Just because they're out to make money, doesn't mean they can exploit their fanbase and treat us like blind idiots. That is why I'm not going to buy HOTS, or Diablo 3 for that matter. I'll save my hard-earned money for companies that actually give a damn. It's a shame there are so few of them around these days.

It's simpler than that.
Is WOL worth $60 with the gameplay + features given/missing? Yes then buy. No then don't
Is HOTS worth ~$40 for the new gameplay + new features? Yes then buy. No then don't.
If the missing features were a big deal, then seriously don't buy WOL.
Edit: Same applies for Diablo 3. Is the $60 worth the enjoyment I'll get from it? Yes then buy. No then don't. Personally, I can't wait for it to be released.

Huh? I didn't say that piracy didn't exist with SC2, I just said that it minimizes the number of people pirating it because it doesn't let them do any multiplayer at all.
and i said thats not true

So do you not get these unless you buy HotS? These things that mostly should have been included in the WoL launch.

It's not known yet, but I assume there will be a patch for everyone when HotS launches that includes them.

The fact that it took them sooo long to get it and that multiplayer still hasnt been cracked hasnt minimized piracy. Add into the fact that if it took them that long all it means is that they just have to do a little better and itll last as long as blizzard needs it to.

I'm both ecstatic and saddened.
Ecstatic that what I predicted came true - the seemingly out of place 'backwardness' of BNet2.0 and Wings of Liberty was simply a business strategy. Release what looks like an 'inferior' product, yet make sure people know it's part of a trilogy, then make the community boil over the lack of...pretty much everything. Because of this one piece of news, I bet half of you are suddenly looking to HotS even more. If I'm wrong, then I'm a conspiracy-nut, and this is an enormously improbable coincidence.
Then I'm saddened by the fact that very few people (based on reading the posts in this thread) actually realized this -.-

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

It's ok...
Nah seriously they need to announce new features little by little or something. As long as we get the features in the end it's allright but still.
|
Multiregion play alone is amazing. I mean, yes it's something that we've come to expect from older games, but I can still appreciate it coming to StarCraft 2!
Can you believe that Flash will soon be competing in StarCraft II? No... I can't. O_o

Three cheers for Blizzard. It took awhile but this is basically everything people have wanted.
|
Thats it? All these features should have been implemented already at the Release of WoL. And after 2 Years of additional development its just ludicrous.
|
Thank you Blizzard! I was worried HotS would only have multiplayer/unit updates, but this shows that you are truly developing an improved game all around. And that you are listening to the most dedicated user base.
If you add a spectator mode to the unranked ladder, with a featured chat/stream in the main page, I will pay child support for the babies I impregnate you with!
