This past weekend I was able to attend the Calgary Expo. It was a great event other than being a bit crowded. My lady and I attended Wil Wheaton's panel where he mostly answered audience questions. I knew she wanted to ask a question but to my surprise she asked "What is your favorite Starcraft race to play?"
While having no time to play any SC2, he talks about befriending Day[9] and involving him in his TableTop youtube show. Wil is a genuine classy nerd who was great to meet. He appreciated the fact during our Star Trek group photo we made Patrick Stewart a Flanking Bonus.
Now to get him on Day[9] Daily and teach him some SC2.

It was pretty good.
But not sure if I'm ever going to buy that board game.
The game is pretty fun, great entry level board game for the uninitiated. Bit random for people used to Catan or other board games of that level but, still enjoyable if accepted for what it is.

(Game is Smallworld)
I don't really agree! Upon seeing the tabletop show, I bought the game and it's pretty fun! It has very little chance and is pretty strategic. I also played a ton of Catan, but I hate the big part the dice play in the game and the dependence on other players.
I don't really see how Smallworld is random at all? You mean the fact that the Race/Power combo changes each game? That only deepens the gameplay and greatly improves the replay value.
I feel it's the other way around, Catan is an easier, more 'newb'-friendly game, easy to pick up and play. Doesn't mean I don't like it, though ^^

How can you say Smallworld is more random than Catan? Catan is more numbers and luck than strategy

Mwahahaha
But in all seriousness, he's a rad guy in person ^^ That TableTop show with Day[9] was amazing, and it's great that he plays StarCraft. He wore a Zerg shirt on TBBT in one episode as well!
I love Wil Wheaton. And I am one of the few people on earth who actually liked Wesley Crusher and thought it was sad his story wasn't explored more. And ofc it's nice to hear him say that he likes to play the good race.
