Any chance of putting up an audio rip of this as a podcast I can subscribe to on iTunes? id like to do that, ill get moving on it. i just have to figure out the best way to set up an rss feed.
Awesome, thanks. This is such a great project and I can't wait to listen in the future. I'm so busy all the time so the whole podcast thing works for me (and I'm sure lots of other people) as a way to easily keep track of new releases and to listen on the go.
Again, great idea, thanks so much for doing this to begin with.

No mention of how solid CoD2 was back in the day of of the CGS era, or the uprising of the swedes in FPS games other than CS rivals to the Koreans from WeMade?
What about Stevy's legacy in CoD that had a BoxeR-esque effect for FPS games?
:S

This is absolutely fantastic, I look forward to it.
For anybody looking for more on Esports history, read the book "Game Boys," which follows Jason Lake's Counter-Strike 1.6 team Complexity in their search for stardom. I read it and loved it a lot!

When I grew up in Sweden, people would use "heaton" as a positive adjective. Boys around ages 13-16 would say stuff like "oh my god, that is fucking heaton!!". That is how big he was. If you made a search over all the world's counterstrike servers, you would find hundreds of players at the same time with the nickname "Heaton". He was a god amongst kids.

I read the whole manuscript through the end during a layover in Chicago on my way to school lol. This piece is really engaging in my opinion. When one of my professors asked what was the book you finished most recently and how was it, I proudly mentioned this, so I can't wait for everyone else to see the rest of it, its really good stuff

:S CoD was never the major FPS game. Quake, CS and even Painkiller were all larger.
"Stevy's legacy in CoD that had a BoxeR-esque effect for FPS games" That is such an overstatement.

Amazing read chobopeon, as always - Miss your articles, this was really nice! Thank you for posting

i was always into counter strike.. but man i remember painkiller haha. vo0 was a beast, guy won so many big events in a row. although it was cool that fatality took 1st place at the most important one (cpl world tour finals), 1st place was $150,000! O_O
