I never advocated what MLG did. I never advocated PPV. Just paying for a high quality stream. That's a way that people can/will support without actually being there.
Also, to everyone else, MLG *is* losing money.

Other interesting stuff from this announcement. OP should have put a little bit more effort in although you can all see it in the link...
The open tournament format: + Show Spoiler +All four Open Stops will be based on a new and open tournament format with more players participating than ever before. Each Tournament stop will have an open sign-up with a tournament fee. Each tournament consists of a group-stage format where only the best players will qualify for the single elimination playoffs. All quarter-finals, semi-finals and the Grand Finals will be played on a stage in-front of a huge audience with a full show production. – We expand the format with one more tournament day, creating a new and more competitive atmosphere around each stop. We are keeping the best parts from the DreamHack Invitational format of having all important playoffs matches played on stage together with the unique DreamHack show attached to it, explains Nyström.
How to qualify for the grand finals: + Show Spoiler +Top-2 finishers from each event will be directly qualified to the Grand Finals at DreamHack Winter 2012 (a total of 8 players), 12 players will be qualified through points from each DreamHack Open stop. Grand Finals at DreamHack Winter 2012 will offer one last chance to qualify to the event through the BYOC-qualifier, where 4 remaining players qualify for the main tournament. – DreamHack Winter 2012 will be much more exclusive compared to previous years. It will be harder to qualify for the Grand Finals in 2012. Players need to participate in one or more stops in order to deserve a slot in the Grand Finals, says Nyström.

Anyway, this is the tournament which i'm most pumped for, DH always delivers. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE either have 2gd or seemler as host... OR BOTH! They will most likely have at least one of them since: 1) Twitch.TV is the partner of the event (Semlar, Apollo and 2GD all work for Twitch.TV Europe) 2) Dreamhack CEO Robert Ohlen and 2GD are really good friends so 2GD will probably make him have Semlar on anyway.

The title is misleading since the news is the amount of price money there is for each stop and some more information about the tournament. The locations were known before as they were announced previously.

Am I not allowed to express some form of negativity? I expected DreamHack to have at least a secondary game, be it either DotA2 or CS 1.6 due to their popularity in Sweden, or even Quake Live since that has already been announced for DreamHack Summer.
I am expecting multiple games to be at DreamHack Summer/Winter, as it always has been. But I am annoyed by the fact that their eSports will only contain a single game. If more games were there for the circuit, they would have been announced today. Their Head of eSports stated a few minutes ago on Twitter that additional details for tickets and the Arena for the Stockholm is going to be announced in the upcoming days, but nothing about a new game.
My main point stems from this statement made from the announcement, marking the eSports = SC2 synonym.
Our ambition is to create something unique and solid for the European eSports scene
I will still be watching, I would not be a fan of the game if I decided to turn it down, and as last year I will be at both DreamHack Summer/Winter to watch it live (not Stockholm due to financial stuff).
I believe I may have gone a bit off-topic here, my apologies for that.

Yeah, I'm not saying that DH is losing money or is going to be hurting, I just wish there was some incentive for people who aren't there to support the event, too.

In your first post (which also was the first reply of this thread) you mentioned paying for HD, in the following replies you just said "Pay for it", which strongly suggests the MLG way since you are also from the US. If the company providing the service is content with their decision so should you. Or maybe they should hire you - your decision obviously is better, no?

What the hell are you talking about? Keep the nationalistic shit out of it. Just because I'm from USA (just living here for a few months, anyways, not from) doesn't mean I care/support MLG. I explicitly said paying for HD, not paying to watch anything at all. A free Standard stream and a paid HD is something fine, and a way I WANT to support Dreamhack.
I'm fine with the decision, never said I wasn't, just would prefer to be able to toss something small their way, and get something out of it.
Drop it, not a big deal.

Sundance needed more cash because he wanted to do 'more' which was his excuse for PPV (which in this case was a pretty bad tournament, the Winter Arena), he NEVER FUCKING SAID MLG was losing money, parts of it where losing him money, like the stupid Halo shit he keeps wanting to plug, but SC2 has always done fine. And as I recall from the LO3 ep with Sundance both DJWheat and SirScoots called him out for being incredibly wasteful when it comes to the events themselves, and instead of cutting some unneeded crap preferred to go for fan money by screaming E-sports will die without it (and the second time that he's done it, first where the Gold passess).
