The sponsor will of course showcase this for the viewers = Free HD stream. If other events would have a very big IP fund their bandwith and connection for the streams, more would be free. Edit: And Twitch as a partner for the encoding/distribution worldwide also makes for HD as a promotion tool.

Telia runs an IP backbone trough europe and runs the EU battle.net backbone etc. Telia and other sponsor builds an insane internet connection just for the DH summer/Winter events. And by supporting eSports and providing full quality streams they get alot of attention and possibly new customers so taking charge for watching probably isn't something that they want. Not something Dreamhack wants eihter. Hopefully Telia is throwing money at them ![]()

![]() Dreamhack will be cultural Computer festival DreamHack may call for cultural events, it beats both administrative law and appeal fixed. The festival has been in a dispute with the Tax Board, where the agency maintains that DreamHack will be classified as a strict computer events and therefore pay 25 percent VAT. But DreamHack won the dispute and now a lower rate of six percent shall apply to portions of ticket revenues because the festival is classified as a cultural event, according to 4, Jönköping. http://www.mcvnordic.com/news/read/dreamhack-launches-eizo-open-2012/093222 “Each event consists of two days – one of round robin and one of the finals, with a fully produced show built around it,” says Nyström. "This means that 128 of the best Starcraft 2 players in the world get a shot at glory at each event. Besides the glory there is also a fat cheque at the end of the line. The prize money totals at 1.2 million Swedish kronor, with 550.000 being splashed out during the grand final in December." Apparently more information regarding DH Stockholm will come out later today but it's very nice to see them expand with even more players!
