But who knows, maybe in HotS we'll get a nice suprise. It might not, tho. Let's not take any risks.

Whether this was indeed poor communication, a CM at fault or community pressure, it means D3 can only be better now. Let's hope we make the same impact for SC2 with our threads. I like what you say here because I think It hits a solid point. This is our game guys, who cares what the problem is (CMs, poor communication, not enough motivation from Blizzard) lets get this changed and make SC 2 better! And lets do everything we can to do that. Blow up their in-boxes and forums, who cares how long its been since beta, yes Bnet 2.0 was shit back then, "why bring it up now?" Because its shit and we finally want change and we WILL NOT get change if we just sit back Change Yes we can *Insert more inspirational revolutional words to inspire (It worked for Obama guys) Lets start a REVOLUTION!!

Community engagement has always made an impact in Blizzard games, even if it's become harder over the years. Even if Bashiok speaks true and it was nothing but a communication issue on their part, chances are the players wouldn't have heard about it that quickly had it not been for the huge activity on the forums, questioning the decisions regarding public chats. Keep the discussions alive, and we'll eventually get a reaction.

There are several examples of this. E.g. some time before the release after heavy community pressure Blizzard publicly promised that there would be cross-server licenses couple of months after the release. Community was ok with this and waited. Couple of months after the release Blizzard made it possible for SEA accounts to use US server too. The technology was probably mostly ready for cross-server licenses at that point (of course more work would probably have been needed e.g. with billing). It has been easy for Blizzard to remain silent about the cross-server licenses since, as there has been no community pressure. The account name change issue is a bit similar case. There are also lots of smaller cases like when in March 2011 Blizzard removed the loss & total games counters from diamond & lower players as a 'quick fix' and claimed that they would consider implementing more meaningful statistics in the future. If Blizzard responds to this Battle.net critique started by this thread and promises something, the community should not just be satisfied with the response and wait. The community should remind Blizzard from time to time about their response/promise to make sure that they cannot presume that the community has forgotten it and do nothing. (edit: small spelling fixes)

I've said this when they removed the win/loss statistics, and I'll say it again. Blizzard will never add any meaningful statistics, like win/loss by race or map, because the inclusion of these statistics will make it possible to reconstruct ones win/loss ratio, which defeats the point of hiding it in the first place -- to stop the hurt feelings of below Master's players who don't like seeing their losses recorded.

Just wow. That is incredible, it's sad, but it's also a perfect example for the "new" Blizzard we've all been lamenting about. Added to the OP.
