Around two years ago we started a film project in our spare time. My friend had just bought a new camera witch could shoot in HD so we went and tried it out. Being starcraft nerds, we thought it would be fun to make a short-movie where we added some visual effects inspired by the game. We released the video on youtube and people seemed to like, it was a bigger hit than we thought it would be! We named it part 1 because we planned to make a sequel, but we didn't really know where the story would end. This is where this video comes in.
As we started on the second part we came up with a lot of ideas regarding the script. Today we understand that our original script might have been a little too big. We had already shot most of our scenes when we realized that the project would take forever to finish and we kinda lost interest there for awhile. But when we saw all the great comments on our original video we felt that we had to release something. The video you see here is some of the footage we worked on been cut together. I hope someone enjoys watching it!
The concept and ambition is great, if you don't mind a small critique (I'm a visual effects artist) your key at around the 1minute 8second mark is really wonky at the feet/legs. What did you use to key this? I would recommend pulling a separate key for it. Also, the command center at the 2minute 9second mark doesn't fit in the environment too well. Maybe add some 3d grass in front of it, so it looks like it's settled in a bit more.
Not trying to be critical, this stuff is really great, and was a blast to watch! Great work! ^_^
