The real reason I assume they invited them is because the want more foreign viewers. So its not about merit its all about popularity, I hate that ![]() You can get them from MLG (which Idra did for Code A) and GOM has 2 foreign invites per season iirc. I'm pretty sure the only reason Sen got in is because Naniwa lost his Code S spot and Idra has the results, gsl points, and already had an up/down seed iirc. You also have to remember that GSL is much harder for foreigners than Koreans: you're usually thousands of miles from home, don't know anyone, probably don't speak the language or know the cultures, etc. So staying in Korea to continually try to just get into Code A is a lot to ask someone like Idra or Sen to be doing, if they don't deserve their slots in Code S they'll lose them quite quickly.

GOM already said they were going to give spots to foreigners, might as well give them to the best foreigners. im sorry if you hate it. you can go talk to Mr. Chae if you want to. i doubt he'll care though. MMA, MC and DRG are the ones who got Code-S from MLG.

Anyway, very pleased with this change. Good work from GOM. Now we just need them to have only two main tournaments a year and I'll be exceptionally happy.

The MAJOR difference between GSL and MLG (last year) is that you actually have to qualify for the GSL Code S ro32, and thus the seedings really only sorts the players out from positions 9-32 rather than giving them a spot. For MLG, being in the top16 (or was it top20?) meant that you were automatically put into the pool play and can only finish at the lowest in the 30-something position even if you go 0-5 in your group. This got you quite a bit of points and hence it's a self repeating cycle - players who are in the pool play got alot of points which made them keep their pool play position. In contrast, if you don't perform in the GSL Code S, you can fall into Code B in one season. The good thing this system does is to prevent suicidal picks (MC lol) and fan favourites eliminating each other in the ro32.

I wish good luck to Sen, and I'm not a huge fan of Idra but I wish him luck anyway. I want to see a larger list of foreigners beating top level Koreans. I think once 2012 is over, we'll be calling that the year of eSports, and we'll of forgotten all about 2011.

I hope so ![]() I miss sC's awesomeness. sC vs Nestea was one of the most awesome series ever, but even then I underestimated him. His 2-0ing of MC in GSL, given that MC has the best PvT in the world, is pretty spectacular, however. I look forward to sC's return.

He got out of the hospital like yesterday or a day before if I recall correctly. There's still plenty of time to practice, if he doesn't have a relapse again. sC is an incredibly strong player when his health is okay and he has had enough practice.

This makes it more fair than the MLG system imo

It shouldn't matter that who was good 11 months ago when you are determining seeds for a current tournament. It doesn't matter though because seeds in GSL is way less importnat that MLG. At least it means there won't be any more MVP vs Nestea in Ro32.
