tier 3 and 4 scare me
if you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always gotten

Interesting that they wrote "2011 GSL Point will be used instead because none 2012 GSL ranking point exists.". Seems to imply that the point scores will be reset and a new point ranking will be established for the 2012 seasons.

Don't understand this at all.

"2. Players from Tier 1 will be assigned to Group A through Group H.
3. The Champion and the Runner-up have the privilege to choose an opponent from Tier 4.
4. Players from Tier 2 will be assigned to Group A through Group H in random drawings.
5. Players from Tier 3 will be assigned to Group H through Group A in random drawings.
6. Players from Tier 3 will be assigned to Group A through Group H in random drawings."

* Code S Ro.32 Group Nomination (will not be broadcasted).

Doesn't this mean the only picking we'll see is whom Leenock and Jjakji pick?

Sounds about right.

I really like this, and it's a change that should have been made sooooo much earlier. Player-selection always seems to end up with stacked halves of the bracket that makes for anticlimactic seasons and a lot of questions on the finalist who made it through "the easy side".

Looking forward to see how it works out!

So there not showing this?

Says on website;
The GSL format has been completely revamped for our 2012 series. As Code S Ro.16 will be played in dual tournament mode, Group Nomination has been moved after the Code S Ro.32 Group stage. Therefore, 2012 GSL Season 1 Code S Ro.16 Group Nomination will be broadcasted on January 20th, 2012. Only strongest 16 players who have qualified fierce competition will be in Group Nomination and you can enjoy more interviews and more contents.

So they only showing the RO16 draw? Hope this is just bad wording, i like watching all of them talk to eachother and banter. Plus with Idra there im sure the banter will be up a level

There is no Ro32 draw. It's (mostly) random seeding, if you read OP.

....Obviously, but it is still classified "as a draw" with people drawing out of a hat/bag whatever. It states GSL November winner and runner up are the only ones who will be drawing and the rest is done by GOM.

So my question was, this is not going to be shown then?

EDIT:
3. The Champion and the Runner-up have the privilege to choose an opponent from Tier 4.

Yet they also state;
Code S Ro.32 Group Nomination (will not be broadcasted)

Which i find rather dissapointing, RANDOM or not, watching draws is fun.

As far as I remember, the new GSL system has a non-random drawing for the ro16 groups (players get to pick opponents) and I'm assuming that gets broadcasted live.

Overall, I like the system.

I like watching draws in general, even though there isn't players there or anything. I watch the Champions League draw every year, as well as other ones that come up (FA Cup comes to mind.) Even though the players arn't there to comment, it would still be cool to see.

Imagine the hype in the LRs!!!!

Guess it just us English people who like watching live draws Hassy

I agree 100% with what you just wrote, i watch every draw World Cup Champions League Euro 2012 Draw etcetcetc
Its great hype and fun. Can make specticals of it, look back on previous seasons GSL, comment on matches what happend etc, discuss any news/rule changes. Maybe awards ceromony built in etcetc.

But yeah id just be happy with showing the draw if you could please GOM =)

I believe's this's a problem of the past though. Code S looks as it should be, pretty evenly strong with the occassional spike at MVP, MMA etc. I think player selection will still be alright. Really looking forward to seeing the groups anyhow!

No, IdrA and Sen have actually been given Code S spots, for their results.

Yeah right for their "results" :D

...? Sen has arguably the best results of any foreigner, placing consistently high at almost every big event and Idra has a good deal of GSL points + MLG results.

Afaik you have to earn your Code S spot by qualifying through the tough Code B and Code A qualifiers. The real reason I assume they invited them is because the want more foreign viewers. So its not about merit its all about popularity, I hate that

They do want more foreigners, which is why they have 2 foreign code S seeds that GOM will be handing out. But both sen and idra were in code S previously, both earned their way there like everyone else at the time, and neither of them ever dropped out of code S before they had to leave korea.

a bunch of the korean pros rode on MLG spots to get to Code S (MVP from Anaheim, MMA from Columbus), so idk about the "tough Code B and Code A qualifiers" part. GOM already said they were going to give spots to foreigners, might as well give them to the best foreigners. im sorry if you hate it. you can go talk to Mr. Chae if you want to. i doubt he'll care though.

Abit sad they dont have the players choose 1 opponent each. Its always fun to see the awkward taunts and insults

I'd say the easiest would be Puzzle, Zenio/Inca, Idra/Boxer and Sen, but that's up for debate.

And if there's a group full of Terrans, JYP is the easiest of the 4th seeds by far.

I love Sen so I couldn't put him down in the easy group :p Also he's done well in tournaments even against Koreans, so he definitely has a shot. He didn't do well in WCG though

I'm a fan of YugiOh's since his time as NewDawn (before he joined SlayerS), but I still think Boxer is better than him. aLive is probably more well balanced than Puzzle, but Puzzle has more potential.

just to correct you, mvp already had code s spot, and I believe columbus was before the code s/a spots were awarded.

mma got code s piggybacking off second place finish @ anaheim behind mvp

If you replace the words "their results" with "gom tv's revenue", this makes more sense
