Naniwa probe rushes Nestea. Not strictly against rules, but seen by many as disrespectful to tournament, essentially breaking unwritten rules tournament did not think had to be spelled out. Naniwa loses code S spot. Oh but wait he didn't. GOM and MLG work out deal to award a code S spot to highest placing player at Pro Circuit events. Naniwa earns said spot at Providence. GOM changes tournament format, converting code S seed from Providence to seed in Blizzard Cup tournament, but doesn't inform anyone who might be affected by change, including Naniwa and MLG. Not strictly against rules, but seen by many as disrespectful to player/MLG, essentially breaking unwritten rules people didn't think had to be spelled out. Hmm.

We, as the viewers, always thought that that was on the line. GOM could have contacted MLG and told them that they had changed things up, but didnt. So, no, they didnt do anything wrong, but its really unprofessional. They didn't "make" MLG lie. MLG chose to let people believe that the code S spots were guaranteed. If they were never really guaranteed, and GOM had the right to "adjust seeding" (like it says in MLGs statement), then MLG should have made that clear to fans from the start. Bottom line is, none of us really know that the MLG/GOM agreement actually stated. From the statement MLG made today, it can be implied that GOM had the right to retract code S seeds at their discretion (ie: change in GSL format). If they have that right, I don't see how anyone can blame them for using it. If they didn't have that right, then they're wrong. But MLGs statement would lead me to believe GOM did have that right, not sure why else they would say "it is within GSL's jurisdiction to adjust placement."

This is not ok by GOM. Uhh, bait and switch? What did they bait Naniwa to do? Are you suggesting he wouldn't have played MLG Providence if he knew that he couldn't win a Code S spot in it? Nothing that occurred here is illegal, btw.

Not lying at all; Koreans knew about it, no one else did. Really? I wished they would also inform the group of people who actually have to PAY to watch their show (at least in a acceptable quality or their vods).

Tournaments not paying up the prizes is a hundred times worse than a player worker cheesing in a meaningless game.

Unless they worded their statement poorly, that essentially means GOM had the right to change their mind at any time according to their agreement with MLG. Yes it is in their jurisdiction but its EXTREMELY unprofessional. It makes MLG look bad for announcing that NaNi was getting a Code S spot and now it makes themselves look bad for being so unprofessional. To say that GOM didn't have to or shouldn't of told MLG that they are changing one of the biggest features for a foreign player at an MLG for the final MLG is just unintelligent.

But neither was Naniwa throwing the match. Essentially, GOM appears to be guilty of the same poor professionalism that they accuse Naniwa of in their statement.

The concept of a bait and switch is an idea of detrimental reliance, in contract law. That is, you are promised something if you do X, then you do X because of that promise, but aren't given your prize. Here, I am asking what you think that Naniwa was "baited" into doing, that he would not otherwise have done. You didn't actually answer my question.

But doing it without telling anyone was seriously unprofessional. Naniwa got punished, because he was unprofessional. But, what he did was not against the rule. Weird, is in it? +1 I really dont get GOM on this issue.
