I hope he realizes his mistake, but by this time, he doesnt have too many extra lives left. Half-assed performances happen all the time in regular sports. People need to quit bringing this argument up, it's already been shot down. THe major difference between other sports and this one, is the fact that it can end in a minute compared to 90.
Half assed yes, a complete walk over, in a premier tournament like a world cup? no.

Wait he won't, because he is not obligated to do anything.
We're talking about the same thing here right? A professional maintaining a set of professional standards?

No. Get over it. Its not a big deal, just be happy you saw Leenok, Polt and MMA show incredible games. Actually they have. I've paid for every GOM tournament, but I don't think I'll be paying for anymore tournaments that involve Naniwa.
you sir, won the prize for most insightful post in this thread.

No, you actually bought the ticket, GOM has the money.
So now you're out of money, but tell me this, did you buy the ticket JUST for Nani vs Nestea? No?
Also, you say you won't buy a ticket to any event involving Naniwa? So you're going to boycott them? So you're the one now hurting ESPORTS?

Obviously not a cultural thing because Huk and Jinro had no issues finding practice partners in Korea. Only Idra with estro and Naniwa with MVP seemed to have problems; not surprisingly, the latter players are known to be BM.

Sure, you can go through the mechanics in your mind, but if you don't care whether you're going to win, you're not going to play well. There is no need for a rule. U cant make a rule for everything and u can abuse every rule to some extend thats the nature of all rules. The problem me and most other ppl complaining about Naniwa is exactly what u wrote . He DIDNT CARE if he is going to win or not only because the tournament was already over for him. He didnt´t care about anything or anyone else, epecially not about those ppl making it possible for him to be where he is now. Why does he have to care? He never said he cares. And fyi, if he didn't care he wouldn't give so many interviews. Gosh I really hate this world where you can't ACT OUT OF EMOTION/SPITE anymore. No everybody has to be fucking Jesus No-personality Christ.
He doesn´t have to care but me and many other fans care. he can do whatever he likes to do, Thats not what this argumentaion is about. Its about how what he has done was disrespectful and unprofessional in many many ways

Comparing a doctor to a person playing videogames for a bit of money in a small subculture.

it's not Naniwa's job to make money for GOM. If they do future invitiationals and decide not to invite him because of this, then that is their perogative.

LOL, I came home from work now and I see 5 topics about naniwa :S. So I was like "omg did he won all 4 games?". But it turned out to be that he threw a game (a game that had no meaning). Uhm, I guess it doesn't happends that much else in SC2 atm...
He could've done like other players do, go for some cheesy bad all-in that fails 95 % of the times, oh wellwell.

Thanks for the translation. Naniwa should really grow up

Because of one player who chose not to play to his fullest because in the end, the game had no bearing on the the advance for either player in the tornament. The game shouldn't of taken place, don't feel like you've been robbed or feel like you're entitled to falsified entertainment.

I'm astonished with people using the argument of "Have you ever seen some football team throwing a maaatch??"
Yes. Literally hundreds of time. By the end of the brazilian championship the teams that don't have nothing to fight for send their younger squad just to get them more experienced knowing they'll probably lose the game(we even have teams paying others behind the curtains to send not the best of their players to a game).

Actually its the same. Professional means getting payed to do something be it playing video games or cutting open people.

"If I could do it again i would just 4 gate and then people wouldnt have complained, this is no different from what Stephano did against Cloud at Dreamhack [Note: After going 0-2 and being eliminated from his group, Stephano went for two very early pool builds against Cloud. Stephano's match against Cloud had ranking implications for other players in his group], People are just hating because it's me who did it." -Nani
So true. Get over it nothing good comes from drama.

The koreans are overexaggerating it.

Naniwa plays his ass off all the way until last game: Nobody cares because its his job. He then skips one game that has zero and absolutely zero effect on the group: OUTRAGE!!!!!!!
Why?

HOLY SHIT MAN. Don't compare world cup with a Starcraft II match. Way out of line I spilled my beverage all over me thanks to that.

This is a ridiculous analogy. In what world does this comparison make even a remote amount of sense.
