That's streaming. They don't take streaming seriously because they don't want people watching it to figure out their play.

Well, I hope so, he keeps getting smashed!

Lol that's just BS. You're implying that he's not serious when streaming because he's afraid that one of his TLer viewer might figure him out and beat him? No. They don't take ladder games seriously because while playing on Kr GM, they are likely to meet their potential opponents on GSL, and they won't take it seriously in general because they don't want to leak out their builds to potential opponents all the time. It has nothing to do with streaming or not.
|
It's not like they're not trying to win or just fucking around, but you're going to get much better feedback from the guy sitting next to you in a custom game on a sanctioned tournament map.
|
Ladder is just ladder.
I'll list off the top 10 players on ladder
1. Byun 2. Yongwha 3. Xigua 4. Alive 5. Byun 6. Life (Zenex) 7. Byun 8. asd 9. Random guy I don't know 10. Parting (FXO)
16. Hwangsin 17. Apocolypse (teamless, but attempted to qualify several times but failed for code A)
Please don't delve too much into it.
|
Does win percentage matter?
|
It means they're good but it doesn't mean #1 GM with 90% win rate is going to win Code S much less qualify for Code A. The maps and format are different.
|
If it did, byun and marineking are bonjwas
|
Well, mkp was one of three koreans to qualify for WCG. I guess he's potentially top3 korea. That's pretty good, don't you think?

Literally word for word what I meant. Obviously they don't give a fuck what TLers think...why would you even assume I meant that?
I definitely think Koreans take ladder fairly seriously. Certainly I don't think all their practise is done in customs. If it is are you saying they are racking up hundreds and thousands of ladder games for a bit of a laugh? No man.

Does no one realize that Stephano has stated that he doesn't want to make a full time career out of pro-gaming. That he's more interested in his studies, and likely won't stay all that long in Korea?

He's also stated that he practices 3 hours a day and plays for the money and that he thinks MC believes protoss is the best race. He's kind of an asshole.

If they all take ladder fairly seriously, enlighten me why the hell we have the following ladder result (quoting from the guy above) :

Does this list reflect the current skill rank in Korea in the slightest? No. So ladder ranking doesn't mean anything.

I guess MakaPrime is the best player ever then, since he's #1 GM and #5 in terms of win percentage.

Who said anything about ladder ranking? However you have provided no counter argument to the idea that they must take ladder fairly seriously because most of them play it too much for it to be for fun.
Plus; these people might just play MORE ladder. That doesn't mean it's a joke to everyone else.
