Kind of a waste of money if you ask me. 3 weeks is not near enough time to do anything substantial.
I kinda see your point but it is Korea and it does seem to have a magical effect on SC2 players....

3 weeks is enough time for him to get help with how to train, get some ideas, points on what to work on and so on. Sure he probably wont come back and win MLG etc but 3 weeks is better then nothing.

Anyways, This should be sick entertainment! Cant wait to see if hes allowed to stream inhouse games, that would be sick!
I may be assuming a little here but it seems like you base this on the fact that he does not seem to have many tournament results. Destiny is a gamer first and an entertainer second, he said this himself. He got offered many chances to do some co-casting and other such "entertainment" like things but he refuses them because he is a gamer first. A lot of what I see him do is improve himself as a gamer but because he is also an entertainer, it hinders his progress somewhat as a gamer. destiny might be a gamer, but you can be in bronze league and still be a gamer. he streams to make money, and anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. i also think he makes more from streaming than he would make as a caster, because he wouldn't be good enough to cast any really big tournaments, just because hes BM, and thats probably the reason why he has the fans he does. eveyrbody streams to make moeny go on twitch click sc2 and see how many people get no viewers but still stream in the hopes of building up a afnbase for loots, cmon this is the most herp derp arguement ever, destiny isnt a pro gamer because he likes ot make money streaming herp derp..... wheres the logic i bet he roflstomps you in a game Your argument lacks merit. Being a professional in anything by dictionary defintion terms means you make a certain percentage of your total income through it. I forget the exact percentage, I think it's above 50% if i'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure Steven Bonnell makes 50% of his incoming through streaming, so it's safe to call him a professional gamer (even before he joined a professional gaming team). Your argument lacks merit
dude i was saying it is ridiculous to say Destiny isnt a pro gamer thnx for not reading, i was replyign to another post hence why i qouted them.......

Incontrol, why don't you go to kor? Would love to see ya pwning em
He was once in Korea, I think. Actually at the very beginning of sc2. But not sure for what, he was only there briefly.

THERE IS NO DOWNSIDE TO THIS TRIP. Yes there it, it costs money. Anyways, is there any possibility of a partnership between QxG and ST? Destiny doesn't pay for the trip, his sponsors do, willingly. Not to mention he will be streaming and making bank from ad revenue while staying there. So what exactly are you talking about?
I'm saying that if you sponsor a flight for somebody, I'd rather see them sending somebody who can commit more. Not blaming Steve for only staying for three weeks, since he has a kid to take care of, actually I am pleasantly surprised that he is going at all.

Good luck.
Don't think it will do much to produce actual results. Destiny's success began and will end with the infestor. He doesn't show the same sophistication in builds as other pros. That level of detail will be among others to keep him from producing.
|
Hopefully Destiny can take a game off a ST player when he's there. Once the infestor nerf happened, his results just tanked. He really needs this training.

This is the exact sentiments I have. I even bought a few months of JTV because the ads were causing cancer. Now I just watch other things on JTV

Best of luck to Steven out there, I really hope he's going to like it and improve!

Three weeks is a good chunk of time, but not nearly enough time to truly improve as a player.
For once I actually agree with Incontrol, which is a weird feeling.

I want to start this post by saying I absolutely hope Destiny comes out of Korea and can beat Deezer 100% of the time, streamcheating or no. It would be equally cool (and not fully unreasonable) for him to also rank top 10 in NA GM and actually hold it for a while. I want these things to happen.
That said, I say this: The difference between a player like IdrA and a player like Destiny is that where IdrA plays to get good and win tournaments (and has a huge viewer audience because of it), Destiny plays to entertain streamwatchers (and attends tournaments / showmatches to maintain credibility (yes, he does have credibility))
Will Destiny benefit from going to Korea? Hell yeah. He'll become a better player with a better understanding of the game and more experience in general. Will he become a top-tier pro expected to place well at MLG/GSL/IPL/NASL? I doubt it, because it isn't his motivation to do so, and until his primary motivation isn't "Make money by being goddamn entertaining" I can't see Destiny working up the motivation to compete at the highest of levels. I mean, why should he? He's got a damn good thing going and is very well suited for what he does... why should he need to place well at MLG?
It makes sense for all involved parties to do this. People -will- watch Destiny play in Korea and any involved sponsors -will- get word of their products out to viewers. It's a good thing for all parties involved, I just think it's important to note that the primary motivation isn't "Get Destiny good enough for #1 GM KOREA!", but "Use the skills of a talented and entertaining streamer to further the franchise and PROMOTE ESPORTS."
I'm all for it. You gogogogoggogogo, Mr. Bonnell.

I love how people somehow know destinys goal in Starcraft2.
|
I think 3 weeks for a zerg player is a lot better than 3 weeks for the other races
|
If nothing else I think this will show him what it takes for him to hit the next level, I think he will really come out of this well
|
Destiny is someone who defeated Bomber in a BO3 as a North American streamer.
With training in Korea Destiny will reach another level for sure.
It will even be better if GSL gives Destiny a Code A spot or something, will definitely increase the viewers+revenues for GSL.

Yes, they certainly are going to give a Code A spot to a forth tier foreigner.
|
Hope he stays for at least 1 and a half months, doubt he will make any decent results if he stays for only 3 weeks, really happy for him though, great opportunity for him and i hope he enjoys it. If he does stay for 1-2 months at the least i think he could become one of the top foreigners, some people can get only so good, however.
|
my theory: -his mechanics will improve slightly -he will still make infestors -if people make high templars or ghost and use any sense of control destiny will be in trouble still.
nevertheless, gz and good luck to destiny.

Why do I have a feeling that being in Korea for 3 weeks won't change anything for Destiny. He is still just going to stream ladder games only difference is he is on KR server. 3 weeks isn't enough to improve at all especially when most people can play KR ladder from US without lag.

Get off your high horse, please. Destiny can and has taken games off of Haypro and Demuslim, both were given spots.
