I'm not being cynical, he's incredibly successful at what he does and I'm as happy for a stranger as I can be. But he's not a pro gamer, the only people who still don't seem to know that yet are his fans. If you think winning a tournament is of a higher priority to him than his stream revenue you're fooling yourself. Destiny is a guy who made SC2 his career, which is cool. Destiny fans are like people invested in a reality TV show under the belief that it isn't all scripted, and 3 weeks in Korea isn't just a new plotline from the producer.

That's exactly what I thought when I first heard about this too, but maybe that's not right. I mean as of the past 2-3 months Destiny has really been trying to up his game and take it more seriously. He's joined a real pro team, and he goes to basically every MLG now. He has taken his celebrity from streaming and is using it to get his foot in the door of the pro scene. I think this move time in Korea could be a legitimate move to get more than his foot in the door. Now, 3 weeks isn't going to make him the next Sase or Thorzain, but it's certainly going to give him a taste for real competition. Playing on KR will make him look worse to his fans. He's going to get killed by no name Koreans left and right. He wouldn't do this if he weren't serious about upping his game. At least, I hope.

^^ stop trying to convince yourself that destiny cares about how anything other then the income that his stream offers him.
He is an professional entertainer , not a professional gamer.

Anyways, This should be sick entertainment!
Cant wait to see if hes allowed to stream inhouse games, that would be sick!

exactly. this could be a trial run. He has a kid, he cant just jump on a never ending korea trip without knowing how it works.

he could possibly do 3 on 3 off in the future if he likes it, or any other schedule but someone who is a father cant just up and leave.

Man, seriously?

This is supposed to be about Destiny but some guy comes in and nitpicks incontrol for saying something that isn't even offensive. Causing a ridiculous amount of uneeded drama with clearly idiotic reasons in the wrong thread. I wish something could happen to users like that, its just plain annoying.

But anyway; Congrats to Destiny! I'm a fan and I hope you'll benefit the best but also relax and see and experience the marvelous cultural sites of korea
Stick it up. take it up. step aside and see the world

It will be fun seeing how badly he gets roflstomped on the Korean ladder! Perhaps though this little trip will increase his skill enough to actually become a somewhat legitimate pro-gamer instead of a random guy that just happened to get popular because of his stream despite a clear lack of true ability... The foreign scene needs more good players, so here's to hoping this trip actually makes him a decent player...

Let's see. In the last couple of months he has beaten Tyler, Incontrol, TSL_Rain, SlayersGolden and Sheth (has also gotten his ass kicked by him and a bunch of Koreans). That's what I could remember/find in 2 minutes. The list goes on obviously.

And yes, he has probably lost more than won against actual pros, but It's simply stupid to claim that he isn't "a decent player".

He is good and has a fun personality. He has worked hard. He deserves everything good coming to him. Fuck the haters.

I really hope he will stream some practice games. I watch his stream to see how terrans win lol so I hope practice with bomber and rainbow will make him less bm against terrans. "Vikings are imba" but its really cool that more players are going over. Na fighting

Tyler and Incontrol are two of the worst pro-gamers in the world who often get beaten by no-name players in MLG open brackets etc., SlayersGolden hasn't even made a dent in the code A qualifiers, and against Sheth that's a pretty volatile MU and as you said he also got owned by Sheth recently as well. As I said in my previous post, I hope that he gets better in Korea because we need more good foreigners, but up to this point his "career" has basically been a joke that only exists because a bunch of people like to watch him be BM on the ladder...

Love how all the people want to come in here and shit on destiny. He's not even a pro-gamer, they say!

Well neither are you bro. When you get out of platinum league maybe you'll understand going to korea is an awesome opportunity for anybody and you shouldn't be such dicks.

I may be assuming a little here but it seems like you base this on the fact that he does not seem to have many tournament results. Destiny is a gamer first and an entertainer second, he said this himself. He got offered many chances to do some co-casting and other such "entertainment" like things but he refuses them because he is a gamer first. A lot of what I see him do is improve himself as a gamer but because he is also an entertainer, it hinders his progress somewhat as a gamer.

destiny might be a gamer, but you can be in bronze league and still be a gamer. he streams to make money, and anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. i also think he makes more from streaming than he would make as a caster, because he wouldn't be good enough to cast any really big tournaments, just because hes BM, and thats probably the reason why he has the fans he does.

3 weeks? That doesn't seem like enough time to practice and train in Korea, I feel like a couple of months would benefit more. Granted money is always an issue and so is the language barrier, but personally I believe that isn't sufficient time to get a grasp of the way Koreans play the game. Nonetheless, congrats to Destiny and good luck to him.
