I may be assuming a little here but it seems like you base this on the fact that he does not seem to have many tournament results. Destiny is a gamer first and an entertainer second, he said this himself. He got offered many chances to do some co-casting and other such "entertainment" like things but he refuses them because he is a gamer first. A lot of what I see him do is improve himself as a gamer but because he is also an entertainer, it hinders his progress somewhat as a gamer.

destiny might be a gamer, but you can be in bronze league and still be a gamer. he streams to make money, and anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. i also think he makes more from streaming than he would make as a caster, because he wouldn't be good enough to cast any really big tournaments, just because hes BM, and thats probably the reason why he has the fans he does.

Despite being Destiny being BM, he really didn't garner his fans because of that. It was more of his more intriguing and intresting play during the start of his career and he does show willingness to improve and despite many classifiying him as an entertainer, who's to say he isn't trying to improve as a player as well? Does improving as a player make you less of an entertainer? Does becoming a better player net you less viewers? I can only see it getting higher and his stay in Korea should make him a better player.

As I said in my previous post, I hope that he gets better in Korea because we need more good foreigners, but up to this point his "career" has basically been a joke that only exists because a bunch of people like to watch him be BM on the ladder...

Incontrol and Tyler aren't top notch progamers right now but neither have lost to no name players in the MLG open bracket. Get your facts straight man.

Your argument lacks merit. Being a professional in anything by dictionary defintion terms means you make a certain percentage of your total income through it. I forget the exact percentage, I think it's above 50% if i'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure Steven Bonnell makes 50% of his incoming through streaming, so it's safe to call him a professional gamer (even before he joined a professional gaming team).

Your argument lacks merit

imo Destinys stream popularity is hurting his progress. It's keeping him from focusing on improving as a player. It's impossible to compete with players who train Korean style 24/7 if your training regimen consists of roflstomping mid masters level players for the delight of stream viewers. Hopefully Korea will help improve his training methods.

I remember Destiny raging at me for calling him a pro-streamer because he doesn't
make money from playing competitively (make a living). From what I hear and gather though, about his play style, work ethic, is that he has talent, but he's incredibly stubborn. Like how he's unwilling to take criticism for his builds and all that, and better off practicing alone. Catz said before that he would tell Destiny that he had the most shit builds, and other progamers would agree, such as Sheth etc, but he wouldn't take any of their advice.

I could be wrong though and maybe he's just here to entertain.

I'm annoyed he switched to Own3D because I enjoyed watching him on my iPad as I rambled around the house or laid in bed. Oh well, his loss...I'll just stream someone else.

To be fair (and seriously just to be fair, I'm basically as far as you can get from a Destiny fan), a huge reason this happened is because for the vast majority of the season, Incontrol and Tyler weren't in the open bracket.
Not saying that they would've lost to nonames, but its worth pointing out.

Anyways, imo this trip shouldn't happen at all. 3 weeks isn't really worth sending the guy out there for anyone imo, especially someone whose skills can still be honed on the NA ladder. quantic should wait and try and get a longer trip

Your argument lacks truth. Look up the word 'professional' on google and link some sources where it says you make more than 50% of your income through a profession. By your definition many sports figures are NOT professionals because they make more money through advertising, sponsers and other various things. Most people are only arguing this because they want to troll/make destiny fans angry...Keep in mind that according to your incredibly flawed reasoning, if Idra started to stream 10 hours a day he would make considerably more money through ad revenue. Would he no longer be a pro gamer?

You're half correct. iNcontroL was in pool play all season, except for Providence. Tyler, on the other hand, had, what? 2 or 3 out of 6 MLGs in pool play? He has never lost to no-names in open bracket. On the contrary, he has taken down some impressive players, such as choya. He has made it through the open bracket directly to pool play, so get your facts straight.

EDIT: Okay, Binski. One time. WHOOOOOOA. And being taken out by no-names isn't exactly exclusive to Tyler. Polt, Oz, MajOr, these are all guys who have taken out by people who were, at the time, no-names.

heh, one of the best shut downs i have read. Well played sir. I also hate people spouting opinions as fact. I think tyler and incontrol have their best days infront of them, but they put so much time into producing stuff for the community i don't know how much quality practice they get in. All i know is i'll be cheering them on from infront of my PC

Back on topic...Good luck to Destiny. While he may not be the best player overall he does show a desire to learn. I'm a big fan but will agree he isn't at a top level. (Its frustrating to watch play Skyrim/LoL the days leading up to MLG and such.) However, he is constantly improving and learning. Everyone thought he would just fade into obscurity after the infestor nerf, and while his play did suffer he has been working at ways around it.

I think the trip to Korea will be a benefit to him. If nothing else at least he won't have to deal with Deezer, and he will get some uninterrupted time to focus on his play. Being a father is hard and distracting to his play and a little escape might really allow him to at least discover some new things to focus on.

Good luck again!
I have a question...

Only 3 weeks? And he can't stay longer because he has a kid now.

Kind of a waste of money if you ask me. 3 weeks is not near enough time to do anything substantial.

^^ stop trying to convince yourself that destiny cares about how anything other then the income that his stream offers him.
He is an professional entertainer , not a professional gamer.

Anyways, This should be sick entertainment!
Cant wait to see if hes allowed to stream inhouse games, that would be sick!

Well I used to watch him a lot. But lately he screams a lot and says stupid stuff all the time. I cannot listen to him anymore.
Before on his stream you would get different and fun tactics with him explaining what he is doing and what he is expecting (and it was fun to listen to his rage) and he would often have provoking discussion with people from the chat or others on his Skype.

Now he just screams stupid shit and talks with others in a way that fits a 15year old, not a person around 22 with a child.

Now I rather watch Catz.
