ESV TV is a foreign tournament that formed a partnership with the GSL and awarded players with GSL Nov. Code A seeds. However a partnership has not been confirmed for the GSL's first season of Code A in 2012, and we are still negotiating with ESV TV at the moment (this is because we are gathering feedback from all the teams on the GSL format during this Nov. season so any changes in format for 2012 may not accommodate a partnership). However, even if it is a tournament that does not award GSL Code A seeds, the use of profanities in a broadcast with many viewers and a blatant disregard for competition cannot be ignored by the GSL. We are unable to make a decision on the punishment yet based on only screenshots and the community. Therefore, we will be asking Prime and SlayerS about the situation and what further action should be taken. The consequences that the players will need to face will be announced as soon as possible after the situation has been assessed. Thank you. One guy helps his friend out of kindness and is punished for it.
Profanities....what? I guess they've forgotten about Poopfeast420 and Jinro's outburst. Since when has this been an issue for GSL?

You're going to criminally charge people for helping a friend when nothing was on the line? I don't think that would hold up in any court.

Savior match-fixed for lucrative amounts of cash and did it behind everyone's backs, gaining lots of money from his match-fixing.
Coca was an idiot kid, having fun with his buddy on an online tournament and thought it would be funny to forfeit a game that he had won so he could continue bullshitting with his friend. All he won from this match-fix was ruining his entire career. Byun would beat Coca and then get beat 2-0 by Creator in the next round.

Team SlayerS apologize about what happen to Coca's 'match fixing' during the ESV TV Korean Weekly S4 and send Coca back to home.
Manager SlayerSEve said, "I am sorry about what happen to one of SlayerS member during the online tournament." "This is complete mistake from us to e-sports fans to cause misundertanding with no matter of importance nor size of tournament. I regret about reckless management and I will work hard to prevent such an incident ever again."
Boxer also said, "We all know what result match fix scandal has caused. Even in online tournament, this is a non-exceptable matter as progamer." "I apologize as big brother of the team, and I will remind how terrible it is to other players, and we will work hard to show you better games."
SlayerS asked responsiblity of this incident to Coca and place him to B team and set him home. Also, by the meaning of self-reflect, SlayerS will ban Coca to any Starcraft 2 matches inside of Korea and rest of the world. This decision is for an indefinite period, and Coca will be back to SC2 when he is ready.
Coca has forfeit the GSL Nov. Code S for meaning of self-reflect. Coca himself has felt responsible to this incident and forfeit the rest of matches. So, Coca will not be on GSL Code S RO16 Group C match on 16th.
GomTV has announced their official comment on community board. Mr. Chae has explained relationship between ESV TV and GSL. After their official comfirmation, discipline action on players will be announced. Wait.....Eve is a manager?

You'd think after all the match fixing the Koreans went through that people would be more aware to not do stupid things like this...

Swearing (which was only done by byun) is worse, I'd say. I wonder what prime will do about that seeing how slayers responded. Yeah I don't understand your logic, swearing is worse than match fixing? I respectfully disagree. i think mr chae is trying to downplay the situation to protect byun's and coca's progaming careereven for a little while more.

Um... Can I take back my liquidbet?
On a serious note, this is quite saddening, especially after his great performance in Ro32. Idra actually mentioned match fixing being a real and serious problem recently. It seems like such a distant issue to me, but this proves that it can appear in much more subtle ways then originally perceived as massive elaborate conspiracy by major teams.

I think everyone is forgetting they are Korean, the punishments they receive do make sense as there are different cultural expectations in korea. Swearing in public on broadcast -- very bad.
Match fixing -- very bad. Why they just didn't play another game and send a different replay I don't know. Dumb kids :S

Jesus Christ throwing a match isn't criminal activity unless it's backed by some sort of other charge. If Savior got people to throw matches for no reason that's not criminal, it's that there was organized betting going on behind the scenes to make a profit.
Assuming no one is betting on this tournament it would hardly be criminal, just embarrassing and a sore spot.

People also need to keep in mind what that incident would mean for further matches coca / byun would play at the GSL / international. What happens if he has to face a team member in the group stages or another tournament where one doesn't stand the chance to advance? His authenticity is completely gone for the moment, i sure as hell would be suspicious of every official game both of them play.

The punishment isn't harsh at all.
ESVTV is able to give a code A spot to winner, same as MLG..
Imagine if this happened at a MLG championship bracket.. everyone would be upset.
From the replays during ESV TV games for the majority of the weeks, there is always chatter during the games. I suppose ESV TV should be more strict about in game talking and tell the players participating.
|
The best part is that they're both in the team house, couldn't he just have, you know, told Coca in person to leave the game so he can get that Code A spot instead? >_>
What that means for the ESV weekly (when they do get that Code A spot back), is obviously that they can't allow Code A/S players to participate. Of course, it's up to the players themselves to be honourable and adher to the spirit of fair play, but it looks like you can't trust even professional players with this. No Code A/S players in the ESV weekly would avoid the temptation for the Code !/S players to throw games against their non-Code A/S teammates.
