Wow. I'm surprised the Koreans are handling this so harshly. They should be punished for sure, but all of this is like beating a dead horse. There was NO Code A spot on the line in this tournament. Yes in the past the winner got a Code A seed, but it wasn't happening this tournament.

Losing Code S, getting kicked out of team house, blocked from entering other tournaments...this is a career-ender for all three of them (don't forget the puppy!)

Team SlayerS apologize about what happen to Coca's 'match fixing' during the ESV TV Korean Weekly S4 and send Coca back to home.

Manager SlayerSEve said, "I am sorry about what happen to one of SlayerS member during the online tournament." "This is complete mistake from us to e-sports fans to cause misundertanding with no matter of importance nor size of tournament. I regret about reckless management and I will work hard to prevent such an incident ever again."

Boxer also said, "We all know what result match fix scandal has caused. Even in online tournament, this is a non-exceptable matter as progamer." "I apologize as big brother of the team, and I will remind how terrible it is to other players, and we will work hard to show you better games."

SlayerS asked responsiblity of this incident to Coca and place him to B team and set him home. Also, by the meaning of self-reflect, SlayerS will ban Coca to any Starcraft 2 matches inside of Korea and rest of the world. This decision is for an indefinite period, and Coca will be back to SC2 when he is ready.

Coca has forfeit the GSL Nov. Code S for meaning of self-reflect. Coca himself has felt responsible to this incident and forfeit the rest of matches. So, Coca will not be on GSL Code S RO16 Group C match on 16th.

GomTV has announced their official comment on community board. Mr. Chae has explained relationship between ESV TV and GSL. After their official comfirmation, discipline action on players will be announced.

Wait.....Eve is a manager?

김가연 is jessica, its a mistranslation.

Interestingly, this shows the difference between Korean and foreign scenes. Korean forums exploded regarding this issue, and most people agree that Byun's punishment is way too lenient and he should be kicked out of the teamhouse as well.

ah so coca felt ashamed and forfeited the spot himself.

No I'm pretty sure SlayerS banned him from all tourneys so he can "self-reflect" but Coca had to be the one to drop out himself. So he did it because Boxer told him to essentially.

Can you guys even imagine having Boxer that angry at you? Damn son.

The punishment isn't harsh at all.

ESVTV is able to give a code A spot to winner, same as MLG..

Imagine if this happened at a MLG championship bracket.. everyone would be upset.

From the replays during ESV TV games for the majority of the weeks, there is always chatter during the games. I suppose ESV TV should be more strict about in game talking and tell the players participating.

Whether or not ESV would give a Code A spot hasn't been decided for the upcoming year. The match counted for close to nothing.

Dear GSL and SlayerS,

You are drastically overestimating how up-tight we, e-sports fans, are. Profanities and jokes mid-match are what we thrive off of. As long as there is no foul play, i.e. match-fixing, then we really could not possibly give less of a fuck.

Sincerely,

Some Nerd

Goodness, this devastating for this kid, 17 years old, left school to play SC2, and this happens.

Somebody brought up the comparison to Stephano, and it really makes me angry. Stephano and Brat_Ok pulled the same shit at Assembly, then Stephano backs out of a contract he signed with Complexity. Nothing happened to him.

Anyway, I just cannot find a coherent way to express my thoughts through all this: So much disappointment, sadness at the fall of a shooting star, the reappearance of the spector of match-fixing...*sigh

What that means for the ESV weekly (when they do get that Code A spot back), is obviously that they can't allow Code A/S players to participate. Of course, it's up to the players themselves to be honourable and adher to the spirit of fair play, but it looks like you can't trust even professional players with this. No Code A/S players in the ESV weekly would avoid the temptation for the Code !/S players to throw games against their non-Code A/S teammates.

I'm not really sure about law or anything but this seems to be a spur of the moment thing and not preplanned, and that should account for something, right? Something about mens rea right?

Man this is so sad. Coca's been doing so well, and then this happens. Even though this is minor, I don't think Slayers can tolerate this. Although I don't htink Boxer has any plans of a lifelong ban. Prolly give Coca some time to think about it and let him redeem himself. Stupid mistake, but no money was involved. So the intention wasn't to make a lot of money.

Coca is on Slayers. Byun on Prime.

Also, there was no spot for this tournament. Coca and Byun weren't being masterminds. They were just having fun trolling each other, Coca didn't want it to be over, so he forfeited and went onto a third game because it seemed funny at the time. They're just idiot kids who took ESV as a small tournament that didn't mean anything and got a rude awakening at the results.

Honestly the punishments seem over the top. The BW scandal, was entirely different and involved vast sums of money and much more important matches.

Plus CoCa and Byun are both still quite young to make stupid mistakes--- they obviously didn't realize how big an issue it was, chatting in game about it. Nobody would chat about it if they didn't think it was a big deal... that's not even attempting to hide it.
