무기한 does not mean permanent
it means that there is no pre determined term
byun and coca can play once the ban is lifted

And that's why you're not a Korean SC2 team manager. Otherwise, you would've lost all your fans and sponsors for your team.

I see tons of people in the thread going "ban them for life for throwing a game". Where were you when idra threw his games in NASL? When Stephano and brat_ok tried to throw their games at Assembly? The list goes on... Korean scene != Foreigner scene. Koreans take unprofessional behavior more seriously apparently.Personally I think an apology was the only thing necessary but I can see their reasoning. They want e sports to be seen as a competition that players take seriously, not as some play pretend competition where match fixing is common. Cultural differences I suppose. But its understandable where they are coming from I think his point is the number of people overreacting over this(in this thread) compared to other instances in the foreign scene. Obviously the korean scene will react differently but the reactions here act like this is the first time to ever happen in sc2. Exactly. The point is how disgustingly the people here are overreacting simply hopping onto the Korean's bandwagon; while at the same time some of these are the same people that cheered when Stephanos and Bratok threw away their games, or when White-Ra( or was it someone else, can't remember) threw away two games at MLG cuz he doesn't agree with the extended series rule. And yet, here are two 17 years old friends, and without knowing better, throwing a won game 2 so they can have a third game; and these people are saying it's comparable to Savior incident and that they should ruin this kid's career? Absolutely disgusting.
edit* Oh, and what about OgsTheWind vs OgsSuperNova when TheWind somehow magically lost a won game when he simply "forgot to expand for ~10mins"? These people probably went "NICE GAME! GREAT COME BACK!"

ㅠㅠ @ such sad results.
if byun wants a spot in code a, he should try winning his games.
coca, i wish you could just have won the series and moved on.

wow, that sucks, this could be career ending for both of them ._.

And that's why you should read nested quotes. They're talking about foreign teams, who clearly don't mind when this happens(Millenium, EG, etc)

Nah I doubt so. Chances are we'll see CoCa back in the GSL within half a year with 10x more sense knocked into him. Same goes for Byun.

Ruining two players careers like this, killing Esports. If you mean that Coca and Byun shouldn't get dropped from tournaments then I respectfully disagree. I think this is very unprofessional and these players should earn their places in any league. What coca did was despicable. If he was going to give Byun the win, he shouldn't have competed at all. If Byun can't beat Coca, then he doesn't deserve the rewards for beating Coca. This type of situation makes me wonder how much this has happened before. I know a lot of people say that Mvp vs Nestea was fixed at Blizzcon and this story lends credence to the notion. I think this type of thing is ruining esports more than a couple good players having their careers ended like this. Of course, if they sober up then their teams might let them compete again. But he probably wasn't going to give Byun the win. It seems that Coca decided to drop the game during the game, not before. And I think that's a huge difference. I don't think this action is despicable. Fixing a high stakes match prior to starting it might be, but I don't think this is. Frowned upon, yes, but despicable seems like too strong a word.

This isn't match fixing but it undermines the spirit of competitive play. What's the point of watching any game if the thought "are they rigging this one too?" is in the back of your mind?

I don't think anyone wants to "ruin" Coca's career. I do think it is fair for there to be some form of punishment. It seems like being banned from professional play for 6 weeks (ESV's punishment for the players) isn't too harsh to me.

He's still on slayers so he most likely wont be doing anything for a while unless boxer lets him. But with the EG partnership I really would love to see him get sent over here kinda like a exile for a time period and own up foreign tournaments he's still a really good player. Very sad for coca

What CoCa and Byun did was incredibly stupid, and ruins the very foundation the tournament itself is based on (the best player wins).
However I am a man that has made more mistakes in my life then I care to admit. CoCa and Byun are both very young and I in no way feel this was a highly premeditated incident like the Savior incident. They deserve a second chance, but not one without punishment.
Until January 1st, 2012 CoCa and Byun are both suspended from the Korean Weekly. We hope they will use this time to look upon themselves and to make sure this never happens again. Additionally the suspension cannot be lifted without the direct approval of their respective coaches (both the time and approval requirements must be met). I feel this will give them the time they need to work past whatever made them do this. They will also be ineligible for any qualified spots in the next Korean Weekly Finals.
In the meantime I will be looking at alternate formats for the Korean Weekly that will somehow separate Code A and S players from Code B. I do not know what the system is yet, but I will be working on it during our two week break.
I am sorry to everyone.
This needs to be in the OP.
I support this move. To be taken seriously, one must be serious. Their behaviour is 100% unacceptable to the foundation of fair play and "May the best man win" ethos.

??
Which players from Mill and EG?
The primary ones I can think of are TT1 (ex-fnatic), Haypro (Liquid), Dimaga (mTw)... I can't think of any others immediately off the top of my head.

I am sorry to everyone. I think this is a good move on your part Diamond.
I think anyone looking at the situation can tell that ESV had no hand in what went down, and that frankly this kind of behavior could be interpreted as "marginalizing" the ESV Weekly/Monthly tournaments. I've always been a huge fan of the weekly and I hate to see something like this occur during the tournament.
This is a great move on your part as the tournament organizer, and I think it's a very precise decision, it's not too harsh, but at the same time it's not 100% forgiving either.
