ill say this one more time. White-Ra showed up late and MLG fules forced him to forfeit even though White-Ra offered to off-race or play down a game. The player was protesting that fact it was not about the extended series advantage. so please stop comparing the two.

Okay, but youre proving his point. The context surrounding the 'match fixing' is extremely important. What you just said disproves the statement 'match fixing is match fixing'. So there should be leniency in this case too because the context wasn't for negative or bad reasons.

Right, so if Tiger Woods walked out of a Satellite tournementto give his spot to his friend (since he's already) qualified, announcing it on live television in the same manner as in this case, he should have no consequences at all?

My pro-golfer friend would totally have a screaming fit... seriously.
What they did was so fucking disrespectful it is not even funny.
At the very least, forfeit to some shit excuse, at least show you respect the tournament and the work to organise it.

I mean, can you imagine all that work of running and organising a contest and a contestant mid-event announces, "I'm going to forfeit so my friend here can advance. I'm going to go now, Peace y'all".
Their stunt was a huge slap in the face of the organisers and the sponsors.

First off there are different people enforcing different punishments so saying "This inconsistency in the enforcement of integrity of the tournaments is really pathetic" is moot really.

Also the situation are completely different. White-ra was late and MLG refused to reschedule to allow him to play all the games. Yes he should have been there on time but there was nothing White-ra could have done to win those games. He didn't lose he simply was not able to play. So his opponent chose a level field.

In this case Byun was getting ass-raped, no reason for Coca to quit. He wants to play again, play after the tournament. What if Coca lost the third game? The Byun gets through based on Coca throwing a game.

You can argue about the harshness of the punishment but comparing those situations doesn't work.

For those who think the punishment was too harsh, you need to think of the Korean scene as a whole.

If this stuff is not cracked down with the utmost strictness, you run the risk of making the whole scene look like a joke. Discrediting the scene and losing viewership will kill SC2. It happened to WC3 in Korea at the start of the game's life.

This isn't match fixing! It's clearly not a premeditated action, but instead a reflection of the disinterest the players had in this particular match.

At the most severe, it's a thrown game. That's miles less severe than the savior scandal.

I know there is the whole BW match fixing drama so they will take any little thing seriously. But imo, this is just too harsh of a punishment.

How doesn't it work? If gimix wants to play White-ra in a fair match, play after the tournament.
It's entirely the same. What if Byun fucks up his build because his dog licked his face? Is that honorable enough that CoCa can forfeit the game?

Rules are rules. Showing up on time is a rule.

This ESV had no Code A spot for the winner. Coca literally forfeited the game because he thought it would be funny/wanted to continue bullshitting with Byun. He and Byun were just being dumbass kids playing video games non-seriously during a serious tournament.

The circumstances don't really matter here. The fact is both times players decided to forfeit games, and that is match fixing. Just this time people got shat on while at MLG the guy was praised for being a hero.

Yeah exactly, Koreans want the game to look like a legit competition. This 2 players made it look like a joke pretend competition. Teams punished them and thats that.

its debatable if the punishment was too harsh, but thats up for the korean managers and scene to regulate.
