I don't know how people can criticize byun and coca for playing around in a tournament with no major prize while not doing the same for the farce that was stephano vs bratok in their attempt to avoid playing sen at assembly. This was a stupid mistake on both their parts and they are already being punished pretty severely for it. I hope to see the both of them back in gsl eventually.

I just want to point out that this wouldn't have happened if kespa was in charge.

Who takes his Code S spot?

EDIT: I would like to concur that this is too public to be malicious match fixing. "Brain Fart" is perfect to describe what Coca did.

On one hand, I feel really bad for both Coca and Byun.
On the other hand... You gotta lay down DA LAW!

Kespa would like a word with you...

you seriously cant compare the incident with what happened in BW.

At this one MLG some player on the team EP basically forfeited some of his games to WhiteRa so he wouldn't have the extended series advantage. This is the same shit, participating in a tournament and not playing your games all the way through. If I remember correctly, the guy brought his workers to the corner of the map and left the game after GGing. How the fuck does CoCa and Byun get so much shit when that guy was fucking praised? Both players threw games and that is by definition match fixing...what I'm saying is that the punishments handed out are too fucking harsh. I'd understand if both players were taken out of GSL and banned for a few seasons, but a life ban is not fucking acceptable. This inconsistency in the enforcement of integrity of the tournaments is really pathetic...and both the teams and tournaments need to rethink this through.

No one. He just drops out of the GSL. His Ro24 match in Code A will be a forfeit victory for whoever gets there. Most likely that will be Curious.

If you are going to match fix at least have the foresight and intelligence to leave reasonable doubt.

Every incident of a player throwing a game isn't "match fixing". Nobody had this reaction to that random guy in MLG that threw 2 games to his own detriment to put WhiteRa on even ground when he was late. Nobody is demanding Idra get banned for life for forfeiting games to go get some sleep. It's pretty common knowledge that players throw games all the time to try to secure themselves better bracket spots in tournaments and we don't get out the torch and pitchforks. We crack jokes and laugh at the absurd games two players that want to lose produces. Or in the case of the guy forfeiting two games to WhiteRa, praise him (And let's be honest, it's not because he's being honorable. It's because we like WhiteRa...)

If you read the actual chat and see the tone of it (in Korean), it's pretty clear that it's just two guys screwing around. So why the need to crucify them when you let everyone else off the hook?

Really sad.. I was a fan of both these players but it will take a long time for anyone to take them seriously in a tournament setting

Idra was actually match fixing when he left against MMA at MLG.

Everyone comparing this to the 'match-fixing scandal' is mistaken. The reason why that was so serious is that online-betting sites and large amounts of money were involved. This doesn't even compare in terms of severity. Yeah, it makes the tournament look like a joke to these players, but it's not comparable to what went on last year in BW. What about MVP vs. Nestea at Blizzcon? Has anyone managed to convincingly argue that that wasn't match-fixing between two teammates?

Has anyone managed to convincingly aruge that there was match-fixing? No they have not

At least they came clean. I would never root for someone who got caught match fixing for unethical monetary reasons . . . and I was such a big fan of him

you always seem to be on my ass, but w/e. This "match-fixing" might not be to the same extent as the ones that occured in BW, but match-fixing is match-fixing.

ill say this one more time. White-Ra showed up late and MLG fules forced him to forfeit even though White-Ra offered to off-race or play down a game. The player was protesting that fact it was not about the extended series advantage. so please stop comparing the two.

That is sad for both players, but not as sad as the amount of people in this thread confusing ESV with ESL. On the one hand I think the punishment is a little harsh, but on the other hand I feel like both players need to be punished if only for the fact that they went full retard and stated their intentions to everybody clear as day.

CoCa throwing the game to Byun on his request might not be too much of a problem, but they annouced it right on in game chat. That kind of stuff destroys the legitimacy of any tournament. Can you imagine any kind of competition and having two participants just announce to the public in the middle of a match that they've decided to throw the game?
