I want new units that will develop new and cool strategies.
Ok so enough of that about this unit. I don't think it will come from a roach look at the head and how it is shaped with the mouth looking much more like a hydralisk and the large plate coming off the back of the head is shaped like a hydralisk. However it is also shaped a lot like a reach with those legs, I would not be surprised if you make this unit by morphing together both like an archon. Oh and it probably will be the new siege unit they were talking about. Maybe half burrowing leaving the shell on its back exposed and gaining increased armor while in that position. Very cool possibilities!
People don't just like it because of the lurker, they like it because of the dynamic it adds to each match-up. The game concepts are similar and this is still Starcraft. Just try to think about Terran without a marine or tank just because you only want new units...it wouldn't feel right.

Oh I thought the big thing was his head first. "Wtf an Ultralisk with a tail? Ultraqueen?"

When it comes time to tease the Protoss unit, there's not going to be a silhouette. They're going to a show a 3D HD, Hi Res, Blinged Out REAVER and everyone on the forums will go buck fucking wild.

Hopefully it's the equivalent of a Lurker. god knows Zerg needs it.

Something to replace the roach I hope. The roach is more Protoss than Zerg in style.

Oh god, thanks for reminding me that. Thats was just so full of win.

it's an evo of hydralisk that shoots its spines like an old asian rocketry thing. the spines land in the ground and form a damage/barrier kind of like spider mines or those spikes that pop up to deflate tires

It looks like a hydra morph that shoots a large arching projectile.

Looks like this unit is shooting something from its back but question is how is it going to be different from roach and hydra.

Looks like the Hydralisk just go uglier. Seriously what is up with those assymetrical legs? It looks like a zombie with a cannon strapped to its back with a hydraface.
Looking at this trend, Protoss players have to be scared. Very VERY scared of what unit they will get.

As others have pointed out, it's definitely a Hydralisk morph.
Now, if it's Lair tech, does that mean that the Hydralisk is getting tweaked to be Hatchery tech? It's hard to guess it's tech level based on it's silhouette, though Zerg kinda has a lack for a true mid-game siege unit/ alternative to Mutas without the Lurker.
However, the SC2 Lurker that was removed at the last minute was a Hive-tech unit, and had stats that reflect its status as so. It was a long-range, anti-armor AoE siege unit that required a morph of the Hydralisk Den once Hive was up, which was an interesting way to tweak the unit based on its position in the tech tree.
I have a subtle gut feeling that the unit might be Hive tech, especially if Blizzard doesn't end up tweaking the Hydralisk much. On one hand, SC2 Hive tech is kinda lacking in advantages compared to BW Hive tech. SC2 Hive often only leads to Brood Lords, as Ultras tend to be underused. The Crackling upgrade and extra attack/armor upgrades are bonuses as well, but SC2 Hive tech still pales in comparison to BW Hive tech, where Ultras were actually useful and Defilers kicked ass. However, SC2 Hive tech already is saturated with a lot of siege options from the Brood Lord and arguably the Ultralisk, which makes this theory weaker.
Overall, I think this mysterious silhouette may subtly reference a possible change in the relationship between the Roach and the Hydra should it get a logical position in the Zerg tech tree.

I don't understand how zergs can still be claiming they "need all the help they can get" and what not when a zerg just won IEM, Code A, and IPL?

This is blizzards new way of adding units to SC2. step 1: post silhouette of ambiguous concept unit step 2: create uproar on forums step 3: steal ideas for what people think it is step 4: profit step 5: change bunker timing
Step 1: Copy from Terran thread Step 2: Look like an idiot

Wrong thread buddy. Talk about the unit. Not balance.

If you compare the front legs of the two they are almost identical except that the new units legs are at a different angle.
This is looking more and more like a Hydroach unit

why does zerg need a siege unit? Seriously not too impressed with these new units but who knows what they actually do.
