Labeling one of these guys as "the best" would be like putting MC on exactly the same level as MVP and Nestea (as of today, September 26, 2011). One of these guys is going to have to step it up and start consistently beating the rest of them (and winning tournaments - especially a tournament with Koreans in it) before being able to claim the title of "the best."

People say Stephano isn't accomplished, but these Eu weekly cups that everyone on State of the Game joke about consist of the best players in Europe-- meaning the best foreigners. I definitely put more weight in a top 4 finish in a European weekly cup than a top 4 finish in pre Korean MLG.

Well unfortunately there are a lot of tournaments which don't get enough mainstream coverage, and people defer to results from the approximately 5 or so big tournaments (GSL, NASL, IPL, dreamhacks, mlgs), though a lot of players are proven outside these. Also unfortunately, I'm definitely in the above group. Outside of the 5 above, plus a couple of other games here and there, I'm not up to date on the current state of all "foreign" players. Stephano is a perfect example, because though you think he might be the best, I can't say I've seen enough of him. So he might be, but I need to see him. But also my opinion is largely formed from the limited number of tournaments I have time to actually watch =/

I definitely put more weight in a top 4 finish in a European weekly cup than a top 4 finish in pre Korean MLG. MLG is a much harder tournament even without the Korean invitees, because sure, Go4SC2 has many good players, but not every round is challenging and most pro players are not participating. If you're a top player, you've basically got 5 rounds of free wins and then all you need to do is beat 2 good players and 1 other pro in Bo3s and a Bo5. Even if you don't think guys like InControL and Drewbie are as good as the european pros, it is still way more difficult to get through 8 rounds vs them than 1 round vs Thorzain.

Depends on the exact cup/weekly. The monthly finals of these online cups are tough. The european qualifier for IEM NY was fucking ridiculous. AND some MLG's were really lacking (the one with Thorzain was tough, Raleigh was really nothing anything special lineup wise if there would not have been Koreans). Dreamhack, Assembly and Homestorycup were all harder (- Koreans).

On serious note: I would say the best foreigner is either Sen/Dimaga/Stephano depending on a day and MU. Soon we will see them performing in top tournaments so we can draw conclusions
