He is Korean, was born in Korea, speaks Korean as his native language, considers himself Korean and lives and works in Korea.
It could, by some long shot extremely broad definition, possibly be considered before but just give it up now, he's Korean. It is as silly as calling SaSe chinese, except even more silly as SaSe lived and played from China for longer than Select did in NA. The same concept applies to people in other sports. An American basketball player that plays in an European league, is a European basketball player. It doesn't matter where you're from, but what environment you play in and who you play against. Select has played in the North American setting from Day 1, making him a North American player.
What planet do you live on? NBA analysts love talking about European players in the NBA. Nowitzki is widely considered to be the best European player... and no one ever calls him, or any other players that came over from Europe, an American player..

If Selects a foreigner then i guess HuK, Naniwa, Thorzain, Jinro, and every "white" guy in Korea is korean.

two wrongs don't make a right and Kas is definitely a top foreigner, he just doesn't participate in many tournaments.

Given results in GSL\MLG dreamhack,ESL, assembly, and other tournaments I dont see how either thorzain or Stephano could be up there. Thorzain won TSL and then lost in Code A, Stephano has won literally nothing except online cups. No major lan wins.
By that argument Huk is by far the best foreigner, given his amount of wins is huge. That said, I would have to say Thorzain/Huk/Naniwa are all fairly close to the best foreigner. Im still undecided on stephano. I honestly cant call him a great player until I see him do well at a lan.

Wait... Select is american by nationality...? Didn't know that! :o
edit: anyways, currently it's not clear who is the "best" non-Korean. In the earlier days, it was clear that it was either Jinro or Idra, but now the rest of the field seems to have caught up to them.

Select's a foreigner because he lives and practices in NA. Even if he's Korean, he doesn't practice in Korea (at least not before) so I think he counts as a foreigner.
HuK and Jinro I would count as Koreans now. Nani and Thorzain has been in Korea for like a month? Not enough time yet in my opinion.

Voted for HuK as best foreigner atm because it's really hard to argue with him being the only foreigner currently in Code S and how dominating he's looking. Hero might give him a run for his money.
Then I looked at the other poll about who should NOT be on the list. Idra is #1 with about 50% of the vote, then I sighed because I knew the trolls won.

I think Select should just post on here and tell us what he is.

demuslim should be on the list IMO in my opinion 2nd best foriegner

Huk is by far the best foreigner. Just look at his play lately in the gsl. He didnt get through his group though, but he did get one win (to keep staying in Code S), with a very calculated fe build, where instead of just going for some 6 gate pressure, and kill the other guys third. He went for a third expo, and just played a straight up macro game, which won him the game.
Also have you checked out Huk's control? He diffently got top 3 control. He somehow always manages to win even when the odds arent in his favor.

I think Sen could beat just about anyone else on that list except for Huk and ThorZaIN with one hand tied behind his back.
And while ThorZaIN is very strong, it seems like maybe 1 in 5 of his games he will look inexplicably just kind of confused or unfocused and then he loses. Just not very consistent.
But then again Sen has basically locked himself away in a league of mediocre local players while ThorZaIN posted an awesome 2-3 series against DRG, so he's a pretty good choice.
Would probably have to say Huk with Thorzain and Sen close behind.

At what LAN?
It doesn't exist. Unless you count laddering as a LAN, in which it's not even remotely close to measuring true skill. IPL is basically a glorified ladder.

Nerchio went 3-0 in his group at IEM beating Huk 2-0, Stephano got 3rd place at Assemply summer beating the likes of Sen

Select going back to Korea basically makes him a Korean now. He lives in Korea, he speaks Korean as his first language, he is Korean.

select got outclassed hard in his round 16 match. huk is kinda in a slump. tzain has a slight lead for his recent showing in dreamhack.
huk or tzain is your foreigner champ.
and lol how can you put idra there? i mean jeez if you take a look at his past records over these last few months, you would wonder why you still remember the guy.
