Its just hype vs actual wins really

When a player wins a big tourney or sits right at the top of a ladder or starts doing extremely well they get toted as the next big thing..

Its part of the reason why we love SC2. When this stops happening it means the game is receding, going stale. Next big things are the... next big thing!

Every foreigner who has went to korea has managed to grab top 25 GM after less than a week? And that with 70%+ win rate and only playing 4 hours a day? Thats news to me

Pretty much this. I really feel like, and I don't mean this insultingly, Stephano is an "abusive" Zerg player. I don't think he's winning because of his mechanics or innovative strategies. He found something that's really, really hard for players to deal with (Toss especially) and he keeps doing.

You mean like an innovative strategy that is hard to deal with?

People that say Stephano has bad mechanics have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. abusive zerg player. hahahahaha. IdrA fanboy i assume?

You know you can actually make arguments without insulting other players, right?

who exactly? no foreigner EVER got that high to my knowledge. no huk, no sase, no naniwa, no idra. not nearly as high. and he plays for 5 days.

its just 1 of tons of proove how good he is, but haters fight reasons to denie anything good he does

Who did i insult? Im not insulting IdrA at all, but his fans often seem to see things kind of 1 sided. + you insult stephano in this thread all the time.

How is he playing abusively vs toss? He doesn't use ling infestor ultra with mass upgrades but roach infestor fast broodlord most of the time supported by heavy macro play. See nothing gimmicky about his zvp. His zvt on the other hand is quite abusive and he got some punishment from top korean terrans for it vs jakjil for example.

Sage had him dead after killing the gold base, but never pushed again until 4 base brood lord were finished

So, Stephano is winning because Sage is bad? ^^

No, because sage didn't see his own lead

Zerg is the fastest comeback race if you let them do it

Plus when Sage took his third, Stephano retook the Gold and another base which is obviously terrible for the toss.

But anyways, I feel like these two have been playing each other so much that they're practically playing like teammates would sometimes with all this funky stuff and occasional personal metagaming.

Here at TL we like to post with some character and factual information as backup. "No" doesn't really cut it.

The statements he made after IPL made me an anti-fan. "Herpderp I only practice a lil and I beat everyone so...I'm da best?"

Noone can argue he is a great player but ladder is really just..ladder. He can prove himself @ the blizzard cup since he apparently doesn't believe he can win GSL.

And enough with 4 hours a day bullshit, he's been streaming for more than 4 hours already. Please. Shut up.

I don't like Idra, no. I think he's overrated and childish. You don't have to be gimmicky to abuse particularly difficult things in the metagame right now. BL/infestor play is considered by most Protoss players to be virtually uncounterable outside of the mothership. This says a lot about the strength of the strategy. Nothing against Stephano for using it; I just don't think it's very original or a terribly good representation of stunning mechanics.

He never insulted anyone ... just if you say "assume" means "are" and "fanboy" means something insulting.
Posts like yours are just irrelevant and senseless.

Haters gonna hate. Stephano has a lot of potential. SaSe was considered very good too but yet didn't show the biggest results(watchin him on IPL right now ... he IS good), at least Stephano showed us what he is capable of.
The first time Nani crushed MLG a lot of ppl said simliar things as the Stephano"haters". I will sit back, drink a cup of tea and will spit it all out when Stephano wins Code S

What?
First of all: virtually uncounterable? SO many games were won by toss vs that army mix. Not saying that the same amount was won by Z with that unit comp but really ... and "just" the mothership? We are talking about lategame unit mix...but i dont want to drift into strategy talk.
Sencond: I guess most Zergs use that build, so ... where is your argument? Zergs arent a good representation of stunning mechanics? And imo Stephano was one of the first with heavy ling styles who actually killed big names.

Really enjoying watching Steph and FOrGG play at the same time with my split screen :D

Well, i agree with this part
I just don't think it's very original or a terribly good representation of stunning mechanics.

but it doesnt mean he has bad mechanics.

+ he uses BL/infestor less then many others, he is more the ultra guy. What do you want zergs to do? play roach/hydra and lose? ur comment doesnt make too much sense tbh -,-

I'm not sure how so many people are rationalizing so many big claims based off ladder performance over a short time frame. LOL
