I do wonder though, since Terran and Zerg (If they have larva) can just queue up bunch of units to keep their money low, where protoss will have to pool up minerals for them to use their warp gates. So, you guys can keep queuing units to keep yourselves under say 200 minerals, where toss will have to pool up to say 800 minerals to warp in 6 stalkers every cooldown. I suppose a top level toss could have all his warpgates staggered so they could do the same thing. But generally if you are going to use your warpgates to reinforce, you dont want to be warping in 1 stalker every 5 seconds, you'd rather warp in 6 at once, making it so you have to pool your money up.
Would this be a main reason why protoss players would have a much lower SQ?
No it wouldnt since the cost itself would be evened out across the amount of time it would take to produce all of your queued units.

just stopping by to say AMAZING AMAZING post

Really cool post.
I'm not sure you can but it would be nice if you could only show spending vs income before players are maxed 200/200. I think that would be more insightful as to who is actually spending the best.

Amazing post! Hope to see more of this stuff in the future.

Played a 17 minute game vs the very easy AI and got a score of 116 (diamond league, haven't played in months). Clearly passive games will make the score much higher than it should be, and games in lower leagues tend to be more passive than in higher leagues (my macro sucks when I play against masters league opponents in customs).

This made my actuarial day.

I am master and calculated mine 79.965.. I think some of my 4 gates pvp are messing up the result.. but still included those. My highest score was 608 average unspent and 1558 collection rate.. 90.349
When I get on later I will play like 10 games maybe while not messing around how I usually do and see if I can get higher score. I consider myself a macro player.. so I want to at least be at the average GM level :/

Omg. So much info! Awesome job I guess. Will read it through when I have time to ^_^

Coolest post I've seen in a long time. Pretty surprising to see such a huge gap between Master and Grandmaster.

I will post before i read out of following reasons
First i have to say it looks on first view easy readable and very apealing . Second i have to say that such a study is sadly not useful in any way to measure your skill.
Because ur macro abbility doesnt score with decissionmaking also ur macro abbility to see scaled is worthless because hell you can have a awesome scale but u lose the game anyways.
Also its extremly useful in some cases in longer drawn out matches bank a bit income and play defensive and then spend all together .
Will read now hope i learn something.

wow that was really cool to read

Mind. Fucking. Blown. Great thread

I think one thing that's noteworthy, however, is that if you sit on a maxed army for any length of time, your money will skyrocket for a reason that really has nothing to do with poor macro; if anything it's a sign of good macro that will end up skewing the average unspent resources tab

You should make bold in the op, that games with income < 600 should not be included in your SQ.

You have to remember that the OP is taking his data from the ladder where the data is already categorized by Blizzard matchmaking... he found a VERY interesting correlation in player's league and macro efficiency that almost everyone has overlooked...
