i guess Lyn is pulling out of SC2 then?
|
very nice, though I'd like to see him concentrating on either WC3 or SC2. I think he is still a beast in WC3, but in SC2 his reputation isn't nearly that good... <.<

Maybe read atleast the top line
"will be joining Pandarea as both Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2 player."
Just focusing on wc3 atm for WCG finals

Grats for getting a team Lyn! Good luck!

Grats. Pandarea looks like a cool team! Grats and GL both and thanks digmouse!

Out of curiosity from someone who has no knowledge of the current WC3 scene how healthy is the WC3 scene? Do people think it will continue for a time or is it on its way out?
|
who are the best teams in China? i feel like its a huge segment of the scene that we completely miss here.
|
People still ladder on battlenet, people still ladder on iccup.
You may have to get used to not speaking the same language as other players though.
|
will he participate in GSL? it looks like he'll be staying in china
|
Nice. Now moon needs a team. :D.

Compared to the BW scene where team after team goes out of business even in Korea, I think WC3 scene is still better, especially in China.

Lyn's joining is making Pandarea back to one of the top progaming team, and it's not over yet.
A hint about Moon?

That's really freaking cool ^:^ I just hope him all the best, he's such a nice guy and player!
Best of luck for the future Lyn!

panda team? EPIC LOL
gogogo woot
|
Both WC3 and SC2? Impressive!
|
man im sure if this guy didn't practise only wc3 he woulda stayed in code s >.>
|
Don't know how good of a move this is for the sake of improving in sc2. Lyn and Moon always came off to me as players without a wide variety of practice partners, and without a solid team that can speak korean it'll be difficult to get back to code A at the level of competition it's at now.

iG have a training house in beijing, WE and Tyloo are in Shanghai, and the players are contracted and payed on a monthly basis, just like any progaming team.

It's been on the decline as any aging game would be.
China's scene is probably the most healthy. Regardless war3 isn't a game you have to put an intensive time investment in once you've been at or are near the top. Probably a couple more years till tournaments become extremely scarce. As of now there are a lot of pros who don't really even play or put time/effort into the game but still compete and do will in tourneys. i.e. sik kim (remind) trolling blizzcon last year

Congrats to Lyn and Panda! Glad to see Lyn on a team again.
EDIT: For those who want numbers, tatazu informs me that Lyn was apparently signed for an annual salary of over $150k. Lol.
EDIT #2: Correction: Not sure what currency it's in. It could be 150k yuan (which comes out to about a much more reasonable 23k USD salary). My Chinese is so bad I might as well be illiterate.

Holy. that is so much if its true. Lyn got into code S at one pt right? too bad no showing recently
|
chinese team... dual game.. all the best!
|
insane how he can practice both and be highly competitive in both games (even though he has fallen off a bit in sc2).

Happy to hear Lyn got a new team though and that he can keep a similar salary to what he had in WemadeFOX.

GL to lyn, although i was hoping with the disbanding of wemadefox moon and lyn would be going full-time SC2 but we can always hope!

All of them have team houses, uniforms, sponsors that gives them decent gear, but rather paltry salary.

It's very healthy in China, dying in the rest of the world.
|
Is there any compiled information on all the Starcraft 2 / Wc3 teams in China? I always feel like there is a huge lack of information from that scene.
|
How big is the WarCraft 3 scene now adays? I never even hear or see anything about it, Is it only in Asian countries? I seriously don't know

Lyn completely dominated two bo3 matches vs XiGua with 4:0. It is disappointed to see XiGua didn't stand a chance to win a single game.

I am disappointed tl. Three pages and no one has pointed out that Pandarea sounds like a panda that ate some bad bamboo.
Really glad lyn found a new and probably richer home though.
|
Can't wait to see him at WCG

Panda - Area? Sounds like I'll be following this team!

Completely not true. Even a month's break and your skill will have decreased severely. Do you honestly expect someone would have the possibility to just take a huge break from playing and still be on the top? Bullshit man, Wc3 requires just as much practice (or did, when the competition was stiffer) as just about anything (Bar BW I guess but really nothing stands up with BW when it comes to practice).
And FYI, Last year's Blizzcon wasn't just some willy nilly tournament pulled from someone's ass. It had a lot of cash on the line and everyone invovled had practiced hard and intensely for it (Remind of course included) which can be understood if you actually cared to lissen to some of the interviews.
On to the original question. My knowledge of tournaments and so on has unfortunately severely decreased but I do know for sure that tournaments are still being held (Not just in China but some International sites have their own little tournament with good competition as well) so, no. Wc3 is not dead just yet.

Germany is having some sort of resurrection with small clan leagues in the Wc3 scene, but only online. Russia is still quite big and China is huge with weekly cups and the upcoming WPTL, which is joined by korean gosus like Sweet, susiria, lucifer(not lucifron), soju and minhyuk. On top of that remind,FoV, infi and THOO, fly, sky and so many other great players will play at least until WCG, because some of them still haven't won a WCG, even though especially moon and lyn belong to the greatest players of all time hands down.
Lyn is also one of the nicest guys in the world and one of the first koreans to travel to europe.

What's wrong with that? WC3 is big in China than elsewhere.
