Example: MC, who's trip could easily be funded by either himself or SK. Could he participate if he wants to, or is he within the grip of this organization's decision? This sounds like Kespa-level bullshit to me -_-
I don't know... the teams told me that they can't participate.

The Koreans just don't want to come, they don't have to if they don't like the tournament. They should have decided sooner though. Yet they get insulted when foreigners don't like their annoying GSL system where you are stuck sitting on your thumbs for a month if you participate? :X

WTF is Mr. Chae involved in this? Is he the SC2 committee head now?

Couldn't MC and Nada just decide to play anyways under the tag of SKMc and SKNada? I mean it *is* a foreign event so their contracts shouldn't even have them playing for oGs here...
If the SC2Con is saying otherwise that seems pretty fucking stupid.

American team??
Fnatic is Australian/British

WOAH, wait a sec, what is with that decision? (Theorycraft here...) Are the Koreans maybe to prideful for a foreigner country to have a big splash in StarCraft 2? I think there may be a chance they want South Korea to be the big name of SC2 forever, and thus they turned down that tremendous offer as not to support it. I hope this isn't true. Either way, I'll still watch NASL.

Why the hell not?! First of all look at the still amazing player list! 2. Go and support the leagues for f*** sake! I cannot believe people are posting such stuff.
There was nothing NASL could do about this, why do you want to punish them even more for trying so hard and failing? It's not their fault so don't blame them by not buying the season ticket if you already planned on buying it.
Sorry but this view is disappointing for the scene.

I would just delay Season 2 and give them what they want. It sounds like the Koreans are being unreasonable, but what else can you do?

Slayers is still in this at least. No MC though :'(

There have been times I have been disappointed with NASL, but this isn't one of them. I really want to hear from the other side as well, because I would really really be angry if they decided that they would boycott an event to demonstrate that they should get full benefits for free. That would just be childish and not at all fair to all the other players flying in from Europe and other regions.
Ok and its kind of ass-like to tell them while they have a new season to start. They probably should have made an effort to you know, decide so that enough time so that NASL can get new qualifiers in. It even sounded like SC2Con didn't deliver its own news, but Mr. Chae did.
SlayerS isn't bound by SC2Con is it? That means if they hold another qualifier, then people like MMA and Alicia can attend? I mean especially with all these Koreans pulling out, if a Korean team could still participate, its players would have a tremendous abillity to join and win
I remember FXOBoss talking about how Choya was worried about where to get their next meal for his team which is actually a really good example because I don't think you can realistically expect Koreans to just come up with money to pay for their tickets unlike the foreign scene that just has WAY more money.
Besides, if you're probably not/barely going to break even, why bother considering how it messes up your sleep schedule and it requires extra preparation time when you can just focus on other things.

Pretty sad that Mr. Chae pulled out the last minute, I lost respect for alot of korean teams.

I think GomTV has a seat there as an advisory role, but I thought sc2con would take care of something this big by themselves =o
We can't speak to the reasons behind this, but we repeatedly sent emails directly to the Korean team managers, and only received official responses from Mr.Chae of the GSL -- who was incredibly helpful and we at the NASL are very thankful for his efforts <3

Well, tbh, this opens up many avenues to some more foreigners. Cuz if Koreans did participate, I think this will be MLG Anaheim 2.0

Guess I won't be buying a Season 2 pass now.
.
Who am I kidding, I wasn't going to anyway. Still, this is terrible news for people that were really forward to watching some great quality games with the NASL. I wonder what they'll do to recover from this huge blow </3

The point is that this won't be the death of NASL.!
You've seen how Koreans dominated foreigners badly in so many tournaments, and you can't see differences in play? Honestly, I don't mean to insult you in any way when I say that if you can't see the difference, you just don't really know enough about the game. It's understandable. I don't know crap about basketball, and I really can't tell the differences between play in the NBA or in just college basketball.

The real question for me now is really: Why should I pay for NASL when I can watch the same old faces play each other for free during the week in IPL and other various events?
|
MC and Nada should be able to stay due to their contracts with SK... make it happen please

We should probably stop calling GSL the GSL, lets just call it a StarCraft League in Korea. The only tournament that has legitimately tried to globalize itself and do so in a fair manner is NASL. Even the MLG-GSL partnership is riddled with rules, regulations, and by-laws which prevent it from really being global.
