Awh this sucks.. What about players that have all these "deals" with foreign teams? Like the oGs and SK thing with NaDa and MC?

I hope korean and foreign teams cooperate more after this if the players are allowed to play.. And this might provide more korean players on foreign teams..

Koreans such as Rain, PuMa, and Hero will still be participating as they are not bound to SC2Con decisions! We are still waiting for a decision from FXOsC

Not only them, but you guys could invite the whole FXOpen Korea roster to take part as their main sponsor is FXO (a foreign team)

For the many people saying that this the end of NASL, we don't know that yet, this might be a setback, but there's still several Koreans participating, and hopefully for the sake of eSports this works out. The loads of us just killing off NASL is just dam discouraging, we love eSports and yet we wanna kill off a league that's trying to help.

wtf is that shit, how much does the freaking round trip ticket cost? just googled, it is 1200 dollars on average, the korean sc2 scene seems so juvenile at times :/

Throw in the costs of further extra travel (they held it at a small town last time for example), hotel (you have to arrive a few days earlier too unless you want to be jet-lagged and lose bad), food, and other expenses. I'm not entirely sure I don't think anyone broke even except for July, MC, and Puma actually last season.

EDIT: How are the spots going to be filled actually?

-___- Seriously, 2000$ travel + prizes to be won, glory to be have, fame to bring home? There have been times I have been disappointed with NASL, but this isn't one of them. I really want to hear from the other side as well, because I would really really be angry if they decided that they would boycott an event to demonstrate that they should get full benefits for free. That would just be childish and not at all fair to all the other players flying in from Europe and other regions.

Ok and its kind of ass-like to tell them while they have a new season to start. They probably should have made an effort to you know, decide so that enough time so that NASL can get new qualifiers in. It even sounded like SC2Con didn't deliver its own news, but Mr. Chae did.

SlayerS isn't bound by SC2Con is it? That means if they hold another qualifier, then people like MMA and Alicia can attend? I mean especially with all these Koreans pulling out, if a Korean team could still participate, its players would have a tremendous abillity to join and win
Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

You really think that Koreans would come again after paying $1500+ in S1 due to the tiny travel stipend to potentially play one best of 3?

There's a reason why the Koreans are willing to spend their own money to go to MLG, but not even half of that money to go to NASL.
I am down but I am far from over

What happened to the oGs-SK thing? Isn't SK supposed to send NaDa and MC to foreign events?

Honestly I think there's more reasons for why they're not coming. Really bad hours, all last season of waiting up all night for no one to show up, get to the finals only to be out in 30 minutes and of course no one wants their players being sniped by other teams. Unfortunate but I kind of understand.

Considering most of the Korean teams have to pay for a team house, the food, utilities and other various expenses for their players I can see traveling globally can takes its toll on their budgets. It is unfortunate but we also might see some non contracted Korean "amateur" players sign up and show us some amazing games. It could be a blessing in disguise in the long run.

If someone could please clarify: Are players on these teams which are a part of the players organization completely banned from participating, regardless of their own personal desires/wishes/sponsors?

Example: MC, who's trip could easily be funded by either himself or SK. Could he participate if he wants to, or is he within the grip of this organization's decision? This sounds like Kespa-level bullshit to me -_-

man this is upsetting

I feel like this hurts the korean players just as much, as NASL is a good way to get recognized outside korea (PuMa) considering how rough it is to get into the GSL televised matches.

SPECULATION BASED ON NASL BRACKETS

Players declining (14):

alive
clide
revival
top
mkp
check
polt
moon
july
squirtle
zenio
ensnare
ace
mc

I think Hero's still in because he's Liquid.

Replacements from the two qualifiers (?)

PLAYERS LOST IN Ro16 of open bracket and not part of those teams:

bubbles
linko
knowme
demuslim

PLAYERS LOST IN Ro16 of S2 qualifier

time
optikzero
ryung
bubbles
hwangsin

PLAYERS LOST IN Ro32 of open bracket

hashe
hawk
gatored
deathangel
major
inka
avilo
future
sterling
everize
cocoa
jobless
attero
killer
mrglouk
death
agh

PLAYERS LOST IN Ro32 of S2 qualifier

targa
gatored
choya
lalush
howareyou
nerchio
minigun
alicia
kAsyu
Twilight
Jinro
zerker
capoch
killer

So.. 9 replacements from the first two and some sort of playoff for the last spots? Or maybe just from the S2 qualifier?

We are disappointed that the Korean Committee waited until the final hour, not only to make these demands but also to notify us of their withdrawal. We would like to apologize to our fans who wanted to see these players participate in the NASL and to the Korean players who hoped to participate. While we do respect the Committee’s decision, we wish it had been made in a more timely manner that did not interrupt the start of our season.

I would take this statement with a grain of salt given how amateur NASL has shown itself to be in the past. I would love to hear Mr. Chae's/SC2Con's side of the story.

Yeah cause the SC2Con is completely innocent with the way they treated TSL...

People should stop pretending they can tell the in game subtleties between Korean players and high level foreigner players....you are watching the game not the name

Maybe you can't see the difference. Haha, try to say that to fans of any other competition or sport.

Maybe I can't...but Puma still in, so I'm happy to judge people from my high horse!
The point is that this won't be the death of NASL.!
