What I really do not understand is why they keep pairing up two play-by-play/emphatic casters, rather than using Wolf. Khaldor does know a bit, but his approach is not analytical and it takes time for a non-native speaker to work up fluency. I just hope that this is a coincidence, or that Wolf was not available during these days, because as much as I support both Khaldor (whom I find good in KSL) and wish all the best to Moletrap (even if I find his casting unpleasing), these days were simply unenjoyable as far as casting goes.

Torch was also fine, but he never casted full-time.

First of all, I have no problem with Moletrap personally, actually he seems like a really nice and cheerful guy.
On to the point, I can't get into his casting at all. I don't like to be so negative, but I don't feel that he brings anything to the cast. He's a play-by-play guy, and that's it (and in my opinion, a pretty mediocre one at that). Something I read he gets a lot of stick for is his lack of game knowledge, and I have to agree with that. Moving on to chemistry; He has got none of it with any of the current casters, and hasn't in the past. The result is very flat casts. Adding to that, I don't think he has improved even a little bit in the time he's been casting for GOM. I'd be fine with him staying if he improved, but as I said, he hasn't done so yet, and I don't think he will in the future.
My honest opinion is that he should leave, so that GOM can cast a new guy (I think I remember Apollo suggesting an interest in casting the GSL, but it might have been jokingly so). Whatever happens, I wish him luck.

I will never understand why they have 3 different casters for Code A when only 2 cast at a time.
Code S: Tastosis Code A: Khaldor & Wolf
This would be totally acceptable, I know people say we shouldn't bash casters, but if so so many people want him to stop casting GSL then for the good of the fans GOM should get rid of him...

This is exactly how i feel except since he's good friends with them they are never going to get rid of him.

I just watched the finals of the King of Kongs between DRG and Losira. It irritated me to no end when Moletrap kept talking about how he doesn't understand why Losira didn't blow up DRG's 3 or 4 banelings with his SINGLE baneling. At the least, I want someone casting a professional ZvZ to know that you need TWO banelings to kill a baneling.
Then later on in the series, he wanted Losira to go blow up DRG's MORPHING banelings with 1 baneling. You need THREE! This is pretty simple stuff that a caster should know, IMO...

It seems like a lot of people are upset with Moletrap's lack of knowledge when casting which I admit seems to be a bit lackluster compared to his fellow GSL casters but I can't get past his voice. The way his voice gets all nasally and whiney and shaky when he gets excited is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I feel bad for the poor guy because he seems nice enough a person but it's pretty hard to find people that like his casting.

can we just start a petition?
moletrap take your casting back to youtube.
get dApollo back asap!! or maybe TLO??!

I just thought I'd chip in in support of removing moletrap. I have to watch the games he casts with the sound off, otherwise I end up yelling at the screen cause he says so many incorrect things which stop me from enjoying the game. It's not even higher level strategy analysis things, it's things like counting the number of bane lings on the screen, or looking at the production tab before he talks about what a player is making. He really seems to know very little about the game, and even less about being entertaining.

Unfortunately, I have to agree as well. His game knowledge is just not up to par. Constantly spewing useless statistics instead of actually trying to analyse the game. I find myself annoyed more often than not when he's casting due to the fact that he gets so much wrong so often.
Take more of an interest in the games at hand and not in what a players win % is against another race and maybe we'll see an improvement.

Haven't watched GSL in quite a while, but from this post, it seems to me that this issue isn't a matter of whether people like Moletrap or not. His knowledge of the game is quite questionable and if he doesn't plan to improve, that is a good enough reason to remove him from GOM. You don't have to like or hate a caster to know if he meets various criteria that would make him a good caster/commentator for a game (also a business, as a good caster would attract a larger audience & profits). In my opinion, game knowledge happens to be one of the many criteria required to be a good caster/commentator.
On another matter, people bring up the point that he has had enough time to improve. On this matter, both sides probably have their own explanation of "how long is long enough," and could probably justify their reasoning as well. Personally, I think he should have improved in "several months," as that is my own standard for a time range where a person should have improved on something. The group in support of Moletrap ("give him some time") states that he is "passionate about the game" and that others should give him some time to improve, but this passion might be a blind one, getting in the way of his improvement as a caster. Who knows, he could be passionate about the wrong things, like (just as a sake of example) getting his opinion out there through trying to trump his co-casters (which is mentioned many times in this thread, without a doubt.. this is what I have read, not what I think of him, as emphasis) as opposed to actual game knowledge. Again, I have not watched enough of his casting to confirm for myself whether or not Moletrap improved (in my perspective), so please do not consider the above as conclusions. Rather, consider them as what others may be thinking with their own standards when they believe that he hasn't improved.
The same applies even for seemingly silly issues like his voice. Supporters of Moletrap consider this a personal attack, whereas the opposing side take into account charisma as an important factor in casting. Doubt neither side will give in, because I can see how both sides can be valid when provided with specific beliefs in what one thinks is right. Even so, I will note that a emotionally detached and observable reason like redemption's is a better way to point out Moletrap's flaws or strengths.

I mean, it's one thing to be gold and cast low masters games, but casting GSL games? No thanks. Even most masters players can't fully grasp what's going on.

It has been a few months since I watched any GSL or GSTL (mostly just because of time issues) and it saddens me to no end to still see Moletrap casting. I'm sorry, I want to be nice but when I tuned in for GSTL this past weekend and heard Moletrap casting at almost the same capacity as he was months ago my heart sank.
To be fair, Moletrap does a decent job play casting (describing whats going on with some enthusiasm), but he just does not understand the game well and cannot seem to focus when he is talking (I wonder if he looks at his co-caster or something when he talks, his eyes clearly leave the screen often). I watched him cast a PvT where the P was chasing a couple of medivacs (the only ones on the field at the time) and when the P killed one he got really excited (like he should), but while he is talking about it he totally misses the other Medivac get picked off and some minor engagement and is totally oblivious until Khaldor corrects him. Not the worst incident, sure, but these types of things are just so common with Moletrap and is what I remember not liking about him months ago.
It's one thing to start off a little subpar, but after months of doing this and with several other casters to give him pointers and help sure up his game knowledge he hasn't improved.... at all. It doesn't even matter that he is in Plat, with the resources around him and the level of play he gets to see every day his game knowledge and casting should be getting better but it isn't. That is not passion for SC guys, passionate people get better at what they do not stay the same.

Moletrap needs to go. Great guy but he is not a GSL caster.
1) His knowledge is lackluster. This would be okay if he never tried to analyze the game, but usually he does. 2) He has no chemistry! This is the thing I don't get the most in GOM's decision. Do they not go over the matches of him casting? I'm thinking particularly of him and Khaldor... poor Khaldor has so much trouble getting his better analysis in. 3) His voice isn't to-die-for. I think it's an acceptable caster's voice, and this is the most subjective of my 3 concerns with Moletrap, so I'll leave it at that.
Khaldor has improved a lot so I don't mind him at all. Wolf has improved as well. I do believe Moletrap has improved, but it's not enough for me too want him as my code A GSL caster.
Really disappointed in this hiring decision.

He's been casting for a long time at GSL. The LEAST he could do is work on his knowledge of the game and/or his own level of play which would help in his casting. He doesn't do either, just shows how lazy he is and that shows in his cast. He can't even remember the names of players he casted the day before in referencing them. You don't need to play sc2 at a high level to understand the game, it's mostly the execution but moletrap doesn't understand some basic fundamentals of the game that a casual viewer does. Tastosis isn't just popular for no reason. They actually put a ton of time behind their casts. Whether it's Artosis grinding on the ladder or Tasteless coming up with jokes and stories, it shows in the quality of their casts.

I took a break from GSL because of moletrap. I'm not happy with him casting code A/special leagues. I understand the casting Archon cannot do everything like when it was open leagues...but Kelly did a better job than Moletrap.

Yes I unfortunatly watched his stream and it's not even a question of being bad he didnt seem to understand even basic build orders or priorities. Wolf is so good too it just makes moletrap even worse when they dual cast.

he's way too loud and doesnt have much knowledge about the game\ and did i mention he's way too loud? cuz he's way too loud

I don't wanna jump on the bandwagon, but he is the reason I stopped watching Code A last season and when I tuned into the GSTL and heard him talking over Khaldor in his solo-cast style, I decided to go to bed instead.
GSTL used to be my favorite GSL event too, but without casters knowledgeable about the team context, its just a bunch of "and here is another player we know nothing about versus some superstar." There is no intrigue, no drama, no hype. ZENEX-treme beating TheSTC, NaDa and ForGG should have been a most epic event, but I found myself having to internally hype it up
