i was wondering what the minerals to gas ratio is on a normal base, with 24scv on minerals and 2x 3on gas? and if this ratio is the same on rich

thx in advance!

I don't fully understand your question but here goes:

30 SCVs per base, 8 mineral patches+2 vespene geysers, 3 SCVs per patch/geyser.

That gives a 4 to 1 ratio of minerals to vespene. This can vary slightly based upon the distances of the patches to your CC(for example, on Metalopolis you can get a slight gas increase by putting 4 SCVs instead of 3 on the farther geyser).

But theoretically, if you start fully saturated in all patches+geysers, then when you get 4000 minerals, you will have 1000 gas.

but it is inefficient to have 3 for each patch. You want something like 2 for each close patch and 3 for each far patch.

Plus gold has less patches, and require less workers.

Plus if you are floating gas, you may delay gas on an expo, so your mining ratios aren't always the same. If I am floating 3k minerals and have almost no gas I'd expand to increase gas consumption. Ratios of mining aren't always the same because of how musch faster you can get minerals to how much gas.

I thought ideally it was 2.5 workers per mineral patch and 3 per vespene geyser. Therefore each base should have a total of 26 workers. I think... lol

keep in mind that there are diminishing returns for additional workers per mineral patch after 2 workers. after you have 16 workers on minerals, each additions worker provides less and less compared to the previous. if you can secure enough bases to have a mineral patch for every 2 workers, that would be ideal, but if you can't then yeah, 3 workers per mineral patch is when it's fully saturated.

There is an interesting thread about mining efficiency you might want to read: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=197826
It contains analysis of the effect of mining close vs far mineral patches.

its about the ratio of a full saturated base of minerals:gas not how many workers is needed for full saturation, this ratio is important for builds, unit compositions, upgrades ect ect

Well, as the gas:minerals ratio is depend on how many minerals you bring in, it seemed relevant to me. Anyways, a search on the liquipedia will tell you a gas geyser brings in 114 gas a minute.
So on full mineral and gas saturation the gas:minerals ratio is 228:816.

thats true, thanks

example: a collossi is 300/200 lets assume your break even 0/0 after you started building the collossi, when you have 200 gas again you'll have ~800 minerals wich is 500 to much for another collossi so you can build like 3 zealots+2pylons or a expo and a pylon/zealot to go break even again
