So sirscoots has taken an hour and counting to write up a simple statement detailing what happened with the deal. That says a lot.

All teams probably have some sort of contract with their members; it seems like the TSL coach knew that EG already bought out Puma's heart.

So many pepole are saying it's bad but can someone plz tell me why it's bad? Because it's not professional. They basically went up to Puma behind the team's back, while he was 3000 miles away from his coach, and flashed a bunch of money into his face. If they wanted, they could have started an arrangement like SK did with NaDa and MC, you know, actually talking to the management of TSL. Don't buy Intel, Steelseries, Monster, Kingston products. You haven't yet explained to me why it's bad? What are the benefits to all stakeholders of contacting TSL throughout the process? It is just a practice of class... similar to it being classless to shoot someone in the back. Even in the NHL (in which the practice of poaching good young players (RFAs) is written into the Collective Bargaining Agreement) it is considered poor practice and almost never happens. And when it does, it is a full out media scandal with words like "gutless" and phrases like "an act of desperation by a desperate General Manager trying to save his job" are pulled out by not only the team suddenly down a player, but the hockey world in general.
Okay, so you're saying it's more tradition and one team respecting the feelings of the other team and being polite. Thanks for providing some explanation.

I assume when this was first posted, the OP did not have all the details, so people were refreshing to get the most up-to-date post.

I find it extremely shady. You can steal cars. You can't steal people. Because they are not property. Stop calling it theft, for fuck's sake. Breaking contract Elaborate, and then provide evidence for these assertions. You have such little information in your brain about the incident but you come to such conclusions somehow?. Breaking a contract only happens if you are not released from the contract. Puma was released from his contract by request. Also, consider that a player of puma's calibur might not have even been making a salary. $0 vs a steady income. If this is the case (which it may well not be, I'll admit), do people really want to see a top player like him be denied what he deserves? Exactly. Which is why I'm asking all the EG condemners here why poaching is a bad thing (i.e. taking players w/out consulting TSL mgmt). So many pepole are saying it's bad but can someone plz tell me why it's bad? Imagine your girlfriend went on a trip, and someone just approached her and asked her to be his girlfriend, and she accepted. No contract, not married. Sure, you feel like you've been betrayed, but it's not wrong, right? Lol... is that legitimately how you feel? You feel like this is a proper comparison? If your gf goes to another country... hahah wow... Alrite I'm going to indulge you on this. If your GF goes to another country, gets approached and offered a position as GF with another man AND she accepts, you probably deserved it.
With all due respect, I hope this happens to you someday. I don't think any one party deserves the blame. People are getting hurt and it's a mixed bag as to who's to blame...if a man seduces your girlfriend, your girlfriend shows a moment of weakness, and you take her for granted, well, everyone's doing something a little wrong.

Refreshing to get more news. The OP was changing by the minute.

Now it hardly matters anymore that this was or was not an OK move by EG, it's going to harden Foreign - Korea relations, perhaps incidents will add upp until SC2 gets bad rep in Kor and it may remain an epiphenomenom in Korean Esports - this should be sad new for all who like to see SC2 endure the way SC has.
Besides if the teams become to unstable and just buy the best players left and right, then what will be the point in being a fan of a team. I'll keep supporting Idra, Incontrol and Demuslim but the only teams that i can support are those who have faith in their lineup and recruit promising up-and-coming players that can become legacy of the team.

Hmmm... would've been better if we didn't get trolled by EG members. It's a fairly serious situation after all.
Serious for people who actually want to complain about how EG handled the situation. PuMa wanted to go to EG, PuMa obviously likes the money and the foreign fans and tournaments. In the end it is Puma that had a decision.

At the same time, a contract with a player is meaningless if it has no value attached to it. Is it really true that Puma didn't make a salary? If that's the case, how much loyalty could TSL reasonably expect? And who would blame EG for making an offer on an obviously excellent player with nothing to lose and everything to gain?
FXO just bought a whole team, essentially. Not many people are boo-hooing that.
Trying to acquire the best players happens regularly in professional sports.
Your stupid. Fou reached out to Fxo to sponser them. /your post True enough. So FXO is sponsoring Fou. No explain to me what the big deal is with EG essentially offering a great player a job? If an another employer offered you a substantial raise to work for them, are you or this prospective employer obligated in anyway to contact you? Not really. /yourself.
It's called respect. You know, it's kinda important when a community is relatively young without any real structure.

I am away from TL just for a couple of hours, and I just came back to see a new thread already with 1600+ replies. This is getting out of control!

Was Puma not under contract? From what i have read so far nothing indicates a contract has been broken. Maybe EG paid TSL but they havent released that info yet.. not much point arguing without knowing what really happened.
|
i see many people are so naive and live in a fairy tale if you think koreans wont do the same having the opurtunity EG had you are soooo wrong
DIMAGA was directly approached by Startale during World vs Korea games in GSL
Many people talk about Puma like he is an object or property, he was given an offer, the thought it trough and decided its a better step for his life and carrier, if there was some breach in contract there are LEGAL tools people can use instead of whining.
