LOL @ best troll in this thread yet... or at least the funniest one :D

Some things need to come out in the open, namely the obligation (if any) that Puma had to TSL.

IRL sports example. If the player isn't contractually binded to a team, a team that wants that player goes to the agent, not the former team. When EG got Idra, they went after a free agent and got him, they didn't go to CJ Entus to ask for him when Idra isn't on CJ anymore

Right. And even further, unlike American sports leagues, there is no overall governing body over both teams, no CBA and no established precedent. So it's even freer than that system.

This just shows that esports is growing... soon players who join teams will have to sign a binding contract pretty much like soccer players to prevent this kind of shit from happening.

They do that since over 5 years now. At least in the Western world. And this is something Korean teams have to comply with, they can't just live in their own universe and then argue with bad ethics.

Pretty shocking they'd go right for the player and basically buy him right out of TSL. Sucks for TSL but I guess this is EG saying they're not going anywhere

the only thing that matters here is the fact that players should get the best possible salary for their skill level. if someone offers you more than what youre getting, and you dont feel attached to your team. you should take it. no other reason should be talked about. the team needs to keep their players via topping the offer. if they cant, then say goodbye to the player.

You seem to be the one who doesn't get the business world...Puma was under a contract, EG contacted him and asked him to break contract, he did not discuss his potential move with his management at all until he told them basically that he was leaving.

Or do you think that people are allowed to break contracts in the business world? lol

PlayXP says he wasn't under a contract

There have to be stipulations saying he can't talk to other teams without permission or something like that. You don't just sign something that says "contract" and then can't talk to another team.

And the post you're getting the playXP statemetn from specifically says RUMORS, from PlayXP POSTERS. It's like taking TL comments from a TL news article as truth, when we all know that it's far from that.

There needs to be a mix between what we have now in SC2 and what KESPA did with BW.

I dont understand why people are assuming they did not have a contract, from the look of things, they DID have a contract. They used a term specifically applicable to contracts (방출, release), things actually point more towards them having a contract right now.

This is completely... weird. I did not expect this at all. I feel terrible for the coach of TSL, who basically has nobody left with real starpower now. Yes this is good for EG, bla bla bla but it's just sad. We'll probably see more and more of this too, which is the bad thing. Koreans have learned that the west is "easy" money, plus they get a ton of money to join the team.

Puma going to EG isn't bad the the player, its good for the player. He actually gets a salary now!

To people defending EG/Puma here:

How exactly are you thinking Puma is going to continue to grow at a rate that can keep up with other Koreans? Not a single person on EG is capable of providing Puma the type of practice he used to get where he is, and no longer being a part of a team house is going to destroy his practice habits. EG is either going to be recruiting other Koreans to form a practice house of their own, or they have no idea how the SC2 scene works right now.

The skill-gap between foreigners and Koreans is not huge, and I'm sure that not all his practice partners are better than the players in EG. Plus, a lot of his practice partners are gone already considering Trickster, Rain and FruitDealer have left the Team already. I don't even know a TSL Z he can practice w/.

Dude Stfu if you don't know what you're talking about. TSL is under the Korean Sc2 association, a governing body that you speak of.

im sorry but thats hilarious..... would you care yo elaborate on how EG is "ruining" Esports, cause it seems to me as thought they are only making good business deals which people are blowing out of proportion and they are helping to merge the Korean and foreign communities.

You seriously think this helps the Korean and foreign communities?

FXO and fOu coming together, being friends, and joining? That is helping the community.

EG "allegedly" poaching an ace from a Korean team that was sent to a foreign tournament and making the coach from the Korean team calling the movie disgusting is just going to hurt the merging of the communities.

This could make the lesser Korean teams from sending their bigger named players in fear of richer foreigner teams poaching their players.

There is a system he 'needs', it's called: contracts

This is a really stupid attitude that covers only the short term, if a player such as Puma does this and the Koreans react by all refusing to practice with him he's got a good salary but will get most likely left behind in the long run. People shouldn't be so eager to potentially burn bridges just for a short term money fix.

There doesn't have to be stipulations. There may not have been anything about talking to other teams. No one knows. Clearly the contract, if there was one, between TSL and Puma wasn't that great. If they just released him from it, it would seem like they realized their "contract" was pretty much worthless.
