I wasn't aware of this reputation.

Says who?

EG only has one player that has been able to produce any sort of results whatsoever. If we start listing the best foreign teams EG comes maybe 7th or 8th. They really should get rid of the jobbers, likes of Lg and Machine who aren't able to win any tournaments at all or even reach any high placements.

Agreed.

Pretty sure team RatZ is better.

If teams wish to keep their players, then write a contract. The player gets room, board, a modest salary possibly in exchange for 6 months to a year of loyalty.

Problem with this is that a contract won't help if your player wants to leave. Sure you can keep him and keep paying his salary but he won't perform to his normal level. That's also probably the reason TSL straight out decided to release him from his contract.

Let me fill you in on Koreans.

Koreans have a level of kinship deeper than westerners. If you get together as a team, you will become very close. The coach is a father figure and he wanted what would make Puma happy. If Puma wanted to go and join another team then the coach would let him.

This doesn't change the fact that EG is a complete joke of a team who didn't respect TSL as a team, didn't respect SC2 as a sport, didn't respect the Korean culture and they certainly don't respect Puma.

The worst part is Puma had such a bright future ahead of him too.

lol my korean genes are kicking in for the whole respect thing ==;;

Thats certainly respectable. Team SHOULD be close.

But if Puma left so easily, one could say that he lacks respect. BUT if the team is really supposed to be a family environment and the coach is supposed to be the dad, what does it say about the environment and the "dad" if theyve lost 4 of their most successful players in a matter of weeks?

So that makes it ok for EG to go behind players backs? there's still a mangement structure there and polite protocols to go through regardless of the state of TSL.

i dont rly see the problem :S

Some people don't understand the business world and want to pretend teams are like 3rd grade best friend circles.

You seem to be the one who doesn't get the business world...Puma was under a contract, EG contacted him and asked him to break contract, he did not discuss his potential move with his management at all until he told them basically that he was leaving.

Or do you think that people are allowed to break contracts in the business world? lol

Nice do you have the source of Puma's contract? How binding it was or any clauses? Your talking like you do so please share

When EG got Idra, they went after a free agent and got him, they didn't go to CJ Entus to ask for him when Idra isn't on CJ anymore

we don't even know whether there was a contract between puma and TSL...

Like Milkis said, I don't think they would use the word "release" if he wasn't under contract. Also, it is well known that TSL provides salaries. What kind of organization would provide a player with room, board, and a salary, without a contract? Doesn't seem to make sense to me.

The comparison with sports in e-sports in these situations are so out of place. Always provides a laugh reading them though.

How exactly are you thinking Puma is going to continue to grow at a rate that can keep up with other Koreans? Not a single person on EG is capable of providing Puma the type of practice he used to get where he is, and no longer being a part of a team house is going to destroy his practice habits. EG is either going to be recruiting other Koreans to form a practice house of their own, or they have no idea how the SC2 scene works right now.

This is what I'm wondering about too, actually. But no one seems to be responding to that concern...

Irrelevant. My point is that if there was no contract, then EG went for the player that is technically under no legal obligation to a team. If he were under contract, EG has shown that they don't dodge binding contracts a la Demuslim when he was on MTW.

EG are the badguy team that make the American SC2 scene so good.
Just look at them in their dark shirts, their anger, hate and bm so well known.
All they need to complete this is a leaked photo of scoots in some dark robes feasting on a newborn whilst screaming for his minions to bring him the head of TLO.

Then we have TL. They're like the 'good' human guys in the story.
Much power, but under an oppressive ruler who silences anyone who dares mention the rise of the dark team. They will continue to play as normal, acting as if all is well in world of esports until it is too late.
Not until Incontrol destroys Huk on their hometurf will they realise that war is upon them.

I don't really follow the team drama's enough to work out the rest. But somehow mousesports, sixjax and all the others will have to band together, making an alliance with the Korean teams to slay EG.
All with CombatEx following behind mumbling to himself.

yes, this sums up sc2 scene pretty much :-)
well done

PlayXP says he wasn't under a contract

There have to be stipulations saying he can't talk to other teams without permission or something like that. You don't just sign something that says "contract" and then can't talk to another team.

On the contrary; teams must give their ok for an approaching team to be allowed to even talk to the player, before -anything- else.

There are so many wrong comparisons to other sports in this thread, it's unbelivable. Stop it.

Related to the topic: Well, we all know that EG is the BM team #1 in SC2, but I am really, really disappointed in Puma. Hope he meets DRG in the next Code A qualifier.

@zere

That's only true if they are under contract. If you're not under contract, you're legally not even on the team, it's purely a verbal agreement essentially.

How do you ask for a contract release when there is no contract? Why did you conveniently skip over that part of the PlayXP reporting?

Dude the post from TL even said it was PlayXP COMMENTING, not reporting. IE random people equivalent to you or me p[osting what they "heard".

So you saying he's under contract is somehow more believable?

Yes, because most top SC2 players are, TSL regularly salaries players, and Manager Lee specifically said "Released", which typically refers to a contract, otherwise wtf else would he have been released from?

Yeah EG is such a joke... They pay their players well, make shows for them, get them a team house, fly them all over the country. Man, it would suck to be on EG...

im against EG, but IdrA is probably a stronger practice partner than FD is currently.
and who knows what other players EG is scouting. they could be picking up a Korean P and Z in the coming days.
