This is good news, imo. yeah, it was a bit of a dick move from EG but hey - these are things that happen in real sports as well (although no one will let you out of your contract like that). Maybe EG should have paid TSL some cash and make it an official, real transfer? If they are willing to let him go like that, I'm sure they wouldn't have opposed a "real" player transfer like that. LOL dont count on it. PuMas skill will turn to shit in a few months time. And overall, I can see this hurting the Korean-Foreigner relationship in the future.

EG only has one player that has been able to produce any sort of results whatsoever. If we start listing the best foreign teams EG comes maybe 7th or 8th. They really should get rid of the jobbers, likes of Lg and Machine who aren't able to win any tournaments at all or even reach any high placements.

Minigun, Cruncher, Grubby (during wc3), and an endless stream of other players have left their team for another in the past. What makes this case special? Because he's Korean? It's a brilliant move by EG. Puma will actually get a respectable salary now and be able to fly around the world playing video games and having a good time.
If anything, this is an indication that Starcraft 2 is going to be the biggest e-sport to date.
As far disrespecting TSL, I think it's a bit disrespectful to the other players of TSL for the managers to be so worried and angry about losing one player.
Grubby? You know Grubby (out of pure loyalty) stuck with a team who failed to give him any money whatsoever for MONTHS even though he was on a salary?

So you saying he's under contract is somehow more believable?

Such sad news for TSL...so many of their star players have left now >_<

InControl will now spend hours across variosu shows attempting to justify this.

"not surprising since it's Idra's team"
I want to say it's BM but considering the team name 'Evil Geniuses' ... they were actually right

Then we have TL. They're like the 'good' human guys in the story. Much power, but under an oppressive ruler who silences anyone who dares mention the rise of the dark team. They will continue to play as normal, acting as if all is well in world of esports until it is too late. Not until Incontrol destroys Huk on their hometurf will they realise that war is upon them.
I don't really follow the team drama's enough to work out the rest. But somehow mousesports, sixjax and all the others will have to band together, making an alliance with the Korean teams to slay EG. All with CombatEx following behind mumbling to himself.
This post is awsome and made me laugh out loud and its pushing 3:30am here haha, thanks for some enlightenment in this heavy thread

don't forget r/starcraft, the villagers who can't afford tickets to the main event so they force Destiny and Day9 memes everyday.

It's okay. They recruited gsl season 1 champion fruitdealer and recent r08 trickster right?

You seem to be the one who doesn't get the business world...Puma was under a contract, EG contacted him and asked him to break contract, he did not discuss his potential move with his management at all until he told them basically that he was leaving.
Or do you think that people are allowed to break contracts in the business world? lol
PlayXP says he wasn't under a contract

Puma had left the TSL house as of the 20th.
What? Are you serious? Does no one see this but me?
There has always been "a system to stop foreign teams from stealing players," its called "paying them." Puma wouldn't have made such a drastic change for nickles and dimes, EG obviously offered a substantial amount over whatever TSL gave him, if anything. I hope this opens up Korean teams eyes and force them to treat their players better.

To people defending EG/Puma here:
How exactly are you thinking Puma is going to continue to grow at a rate that can keep up with other Koreans? Not a single person on EG is capable of providing Puma the type of practice he used to get where he is, and no longer being a part of a team house is going to destroy his practice habits. EG is either going to be recruiting other Koreans to form a practice house of their own, or they have no idea how the SC2 scene works right now.

Just because it's allowed in business does not make it respectable and an element that spectators want to see in e-sports.
For instance, a company doesn't have to recycle. They're saving money by not doing so, but it's respectable for them to do it.
Grabbing a player from a small business' team without any negotiation or forewarning is not something I personally see as a great thing for e-sports. E-sports is growing and it is possible for it to grow in the wrong direction with greed. It's the community's responsibility to keep "business" actions like these in check.
