I feel really bad for aLive, SangHo, and mainly Clide for having to deal with the loss of another teammate. It sucks for the players, but really TSL's management is probably to blame. EG offered PuMa a better deal than whatever TSL thought he was worth. I can't understand why their coach is angry over this.

This is actually going to hurt ALL parties involved when all the dust settles.

Puma's skill level will drop like mad. EG will solidify its reputation as a joke team. TSL loses its best member arguably. The fans will have second thoughts about supporting Puma.

Imagine Boxer's reaction to this!

What if this was a giant game of telephone. Starting this morning in Korea when Puma ask for some EGGS for breakfast, hours later becoming "Im leaving for EG fast!"

this is a gem, how bout you wait for more facts before forming such a ridiculous opinion

What facts?

I'm pretty sure TSL knows if they had a player contracted to them or not, and they obviously have some reason to be upset.

Yeah, EG will probably come up with a "statement" of their own, but we've already seen several times in the past how "honest" EG can be. I would not call that "more facts", rather a cover-up story (probably already in the making).

Ugh. People so desperate to choose sides. And you aren't slightly biased are you?

Good luck to EG and Puma.

Especially as ZvT is totally IdrA's problem.

people are saying Puma just let the coach know that he is leaving for EG and just packed his things and left on the 20th without any discussion of this matter.

also, it seems like there was no written contract signed with TSL.

with that, of course the coach had no choice but to announce his release.

this was from just a forum so take it for what it is.

That actually makes a lot of sense. People assuming that this was a "steal" or "easy maneuver" need a little more experience in business (not meant to be condescending).

Doesn't make sense for Puma to leave TSL unless there were already issues with the team. FD, trickster and rain leaving COULD be indicative of internal problems. If Puma really didnt have a binding/written contract with TSL, then thats even more hliarious. If TSL was really developing Puma and keeping him happy this would have never happened.

To me, this looks terrible for TSL's management and the way they run their team.

How do you 'release' someone not under contract? What exactly are you releasing them from?

The team?

Without a contract you have no say in 'releasing' him.. He is not bound and doesn't need releasing.. Without a contract players can just get up and go whenever they want.. You think that without a contract if TSL didn't 'release' puma he would still be there? LOL..

he's not legally ON the team. so he's not being released from anything, he's simply relocating to play w/ other people.

It could be just a way of saying things though, like, "let him go from the team, released him from the team" you know?

Don't take random comments from a Korean site as real. That's the same as taking random rumors from TL members as fact. There is no source saying that he wasn't under a written contract. If he wasn't, then Lee would have never said he released him from said contract.

This just shows that esports is growing... soon players who join teams will have to sign a binding contract pretty much like soccer players to prevent this kind of shit from happening.

though i think what EG did is not a nice thing, but it just shows they will do what they need to be the best within legal limits.

Its every man for themselves, and i definitely dont fault puma for his move =)... good luck puma!

If this information pans out, then it's a question of who approached first. A lot in this thread are jumping to way more conclusions that we have information. If he had no contract (or nothing like a non-compete/non-discussion in one), then no "rules" were broken.

It makes sense from EG's end. I wonder if TSL needs someone to be working the business end of things. With all of their departures, it's kind of weird.

lol @ everyone hating on EG in this thread

This is how the real world works. This is business. This is what happens. There aren't leagues with CBAs and unions for the players, so it's just like any other employer. They can be courted and it's not bad ethics, it's. just. business. Pay him more and he won't stray. If you ever want to see e-sports expand, you need to see competitive salaries for players.

HOWEVER, if Puma breached a contract or EG may have possibly engaged in illegal conduct (and I highly doubt they did), then TSL should pursue legal avenues. They did not. Instead, they voluntarily released their player. Let him out of the contract on their own decision. If they do that, they should keep their mouth shut and move on.

It ends there. It's business and the korean team couldn't compete with what the US team offered. This fostered spirit of competition (in the market, not in SC2 games themselves) is exactly what e-sports needs if y'all want it to grow.

what are you talking about. it's legal but it's bad ethics. do you know anything about business? there's a ton of things you can do that's legal but makes you seem like a dick.

I know quite a bit about business. I'm just a casual gamer and I have a real world career in the legal industry. Employers trying to lure employees away from other companies is super standard. It's not bad ethics. If you are trying to steal trade secrets or something that's a different story, but that isn't the case here. People (especially those apparently not under a binding contract) switch jobs all the time. To call this bad ethics is to call what makes the American white collar employment market so competitive for highly skilled workers unethical.

A player has to be bound to another team forever? Head hunters for employers can't contact potential employees? You can't court someone away and pay them a higher salary? Unless you have a CBA, pre-existing law or contract preventing this behavior, you either pay the competitive wage or you deal with the consequences. Period. People aren't slaves.

Let me fill you in on Koreans.

Koreans have a level of kinship deeper than westerners. If you get together as a team, you will become very close. The coach is a father figure and he wanted what would make Puma happy. If Puma wanted to go and join another team then the coach would let him.

This doesn't change the fact that EG is a complete joke of a team who didn't respect TSL as a team, didn't respect SC2 as a sport, didn't respect the Korean culture and they certainly don't respect Puma.

The worst part is Puma had such a bright future ahead of him too.

lol my korean genes are kicking in for the whole respect thing ==;;

Koreans also seem to think that a female celebrity coming forward and revealing that she is being physically abused by her husband is a case of her failing to "maintain dignity". The chances of the TSL coaching staff even letting EG talk to Puma is slim to none. Puma most definitely deserves more then he got payed at TSL (assuming he got payed at all, he had zero results prior to NASL), if this is what he is happy with, then who cares how they went about it.

Are you agreeing with me or disagreeing? If youre disagreeing, I think its pretty straight forward. And if you just sit back and think it'll hit you. But incase it doesnt, he was "released" from the team. IE. Not on TSL anymore.
