According to them, "if EvE fails it's because she's a woman, if she succeeds it's because of 'affirmative action' giving her better stuff that could have gone to a man" and they will never accept her. It is noble to try to convince the people who are hating on her, though. If even one person is turned away from hatred and towards acceptance, that is a victory in my opinion. Besides, all the people saying they wished other countries would have the Korean system: Do you really want to give the government all power on the internet? Are there not many struggles for freedom fed by the web? Would you want to stop these just so you can deal with some trolls who hardly do any damage at all, at least in the Western world? Assuming they haven't bothered to set up a wall of proxies or took the care to vpn/tor prior to flaming (which most people don't), then doing it after the fact of being charged isn't going to accomplish much. Government shouldn't have all power over the web. But people shouldn't violate laws. Free speech is free until you start breaking laws with it ie. slander/libel/harassment or otherwise harm them in any significant way shape or form. It basically goes back to the concept of "Free Speech." It was never intended as a stand alone "Right" taking precedence over all else so that people can act like total dickwads with impunity.

When you're in the spotlight, it's how it goes. It's happened for years and years. Look at roman history for instance, you have two things that happened. Julius Caesar' and Clodius Pulcher disliked one another. The rumors spread that Pulcher was banging caesar' wife, but Caesar handled it like a gentleman, while Pulcher made himself look like a fool. You need to know how to handle certain situations. And none of you are looking at it from the perspective of the relevant culture. Nice. I suppose nobody actually bothered to read the top of the page that the twitter user's name appears on? I thought it would be the first thing everybody would have checked but nope. Haeun's a drama queen and went on a full-tilt guilt trip when she thought things were getting serious. This. They have the same first amendment right, just a different interpretation of it. Do you even understand what our first amendment means and allows for? Defamation/Harassment is not protected by ANY interpretation of freedom of speech, the only difference is that South Korea has a wider scope as to what constitutes as defamation.

I have to agree with this. its just words. you settle it between two people and move on. Police are NOT supposed to be the parents of a bunch of overgrown kids who want to tattle and get others in trouble because they cant be mature and take care of their own crap. You tell them that they are being how they are being, and you wait for an apology, and otherwise ignore it. Like that one comedian "when did 'sticks and stones may break my bones' stop being relevant"? I highly doubt its their culture completely, after all it was greatly changed by western incursions in the Korean War, among other things. would you say Japans culture is currently the way it is purely from internal forces? Its the most European and "sex free" culture in Asia. Its got an almost universal acceptance of all forms of personal taste and decisions, I say more so than the U.S. That didnt happen because Japan kept to its fundamental cultural past. It integrated a LOT of western ideals so quickly that it probably went far off into the extreme in many regards. Korea is the same way, it reminds me of McDonalds being sued by fat people for claiming eating there is hurting them, even though they have a choice. The whiners are what are making frivolous lawsuits become realities, and forcing everyone to stop actually being free for fear of being "tattled" on. Obviously Koreans are more like Americans than I previously thought if this is how they behave to words. This world is going to hell because of people who cant behave like grown ups. trippers counter arguments above prove my point. hes from the U.S. going back a few pages makes it sound like Slayers might be the attention whore, playing up things that are common occurrence. All races, genders, etc of humans are capable of the personality disorders that lead to attention seeking and dramatizing. Noteriety draws the dramatic and those who want to be in the spotlight like a moth to a flame. flame on indeed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histrionic_personality_disorder 1 in 5 people are said to have some sort of disorder. thank god most people's are more quiet milder forms. I've dealt with the "psychos" before, 4 girl things that attached themselves to me and all acted the same way, so yeah.. In Greece mature adults have to settle it between each other, or ignore it, because taking it to the police makes it shitty for everyone involved. So they mature faster in Greece.

The attack on the 16 year old girl was sickening. Jessica's constant references to her own fame are clear indications that the problem stems from her inflated sense of self importance. Celebrities who think this way are use to being given preferential treatment. So when some one calls them out, regardless of the justification, they respond like a besmirched King. "What did you say? Do you know who I am?? I AM IMPORTANT!!".

If anything, SlayerS_Jessica is being overprotective.

It'd be just like any other person who does extraordinarily well. There is no difference between genders in a video game. Think size matters? "Size matters not" Look at Nada, he's much smaller than Sheth ( he is significantly bigger in size than the former ) but does very well.

In korea, it's illegal to talk smack on the internet and they have a system in place to prevent it. People break the law, Jessica goes to the police. Nothing weird about it, just a bunch of western nerds thinking their experience on the internet is more important than korean law.

and Artosis even says on the SOTG that every korean online has a register a social security number. means if you troll, the right authorities can find your name, address, number. the culture in korea is so different and sometimes these 'trolls' push even celebrities on the brink of suicide. and some of them even committed suicide :/
