Lol no kidding. I wish I could find one of the many interviews where Blizzard vigorously denied that they had the technology to do region linking and that's why there were separate ladders/servers.
I wonder how they stumbled upon such amazing technology so quickly? Oh wait...
Now just get us the ability to watch replay together :D
Will make it a lot easier for tournaments... Also it can't be that hard to have a "replay-watching-admin" that can control when the replay is starting for everyone!

Different things are different. These linked servers are physically located in the same place, and even had sort-of cross-server communication ability(chat channels, RealID). NA and EU have literally a ocean between them.
inb4 Blizzard speaking about it in the next interview/press release like they cooked up some new and magically revolutinary technologie to make this happen.

It still shouldn't matter. They had no region lock in a game made 13 years ago, yet they don't have the technology now? Region lock is pretty much a massive joke.

What will happen then? We just paid 2x the price for no reason?
Now you have a smurf account. (: I was thinking of buying another account just to play on the NA server during this Winter break. So glad I didn't do it. :D
But srsly, you can transfer one of your accounts to the EU server.

They never denied they had the technology to link NA and LA, in fact, both were always on the same server, you could even join the same chat channels. Merging servers that are actually the same server is, unsurprisingly, simple, unlike cross globe servers.
The "technology" they had before wasn't superior to what they have now, regions were still locked, not linked, what you could do was choose which one you wanted to play in. All Blizzard did was remove the choice to play in a diferent region with the same SC2 copy, which may have been greedy, may have been a bad decision, but in no way is any diferent technology wise. Instead of choosing the Europe realm, you buy the Europe copy.
