I see the advantages in the sense that these individuals are becoming pioneers but I gotta believe sponsors will see these statistics and it will affect their decisions. It also creates this mystique around Koreans in the foreigner community. We continue to cheer for the Koreans and even call them "Koreans" putting them on a pedestal which make us (the foreigners) seem inferior in the community and to the sponsors. I think the truth is more like "Korean practice > Foreigner Practice" than simply "Koreans>Foreigners" "Korean practice > Foreigner Practice" causes "Koreans>Foreigners," no? No, because as I pointed out in my post (which you erased...) foreigners can measure up with Koreans with Korean practice. ei. Huk > a lot of Koreans you do know that it's harder for foreigners to adopt korean practice than koreans right? No it isn't harder, they just don't want to take so much time playing it, aka moving from their houses to a pro gamer house. They would spent even less money if they lived on a progamer house. you are affirming my post, do you realize that? Actually, I'm not. Just because Korea is a small country, it doesn't mean they don't have to leave their houses and friends to move into a Progamer House.

I commend FXO on doing their best - Putting up the $$ and the Logistics to get a team over there. to get Involved in the GSL and to further bond the foreigners and Koreans in eSports.
These guys may not have won their team match but the effort they have made for eSports is amazing. I don't know of another team with such dedicated ambition.
Gratz to you guys for doing something everyone only dreams of.

I am all for FXO sending players and giving Korea a shot, and to improve their players, but the question is, why invest $30,000k or so to bring unknown players into the GSTL? Really, they should spend some money on their roster first.

I don't understand how money will make players better.

The dif between foreigner and korean 'practice' is that you get more input on your practice and things run more efficiently.. They don't particularly practice more... I know optikzero was playing 12-15 hrs a day in canada, but in Korea he is doing 10-12. But he is getting better because of 1) his opponents and 2) the input given to him by his team mates in an efficient manner.
People commenting on things without actually part taking in them, or being there to see them, should probably make the trip to korea before posting.
Looking forward to fridays match, unfortunately I will not be trhere as I have to attend to business.
Have fun guys.

I just pictured boss as a "Hitman" looking through a scope of a sniper rifle with a troll in the sights.
Good luck for Friday FXO, I hope to see some more awesomeness.

This is why I love eSports. There's just so many ways to poke fun at serious and cool things such as an announcement like this. Good luck FXO!

I failed to make an overseer as my lair finished, and if I did, I'd be able to send it through to scout and see the 2port banshee. It's very painful to lose this way; I think he either saw replays of me play, or, knowing their team was far ahead, chose to do a risky build (and it paid off).
Either way, the posts in this thread are both uplifting and crushing at the same time; thank you everyone who is giving your support to us: it means a lot, at least, to me.
I wasnt really a fan of you before today - because I didnt follow you / your play. But today it changed. The important part was how you looked like after the defeat. MarineKing style - head on table (crying?). Did I expect FXO to win the GSTL? No. Did I expect FXO to fight for every win - even against the worst Korean teams? Yes. Words before matches can be deceiving ("We expect to win 4-1" if someone says something different, even if he believes he will lose, he will become the laughing stock of the community). But your reaction to the loss showed that you care (or you should get into acting asap! ). You didnt seem to have the attitude "I'm a foreigner, I'm inferior, I'm going to lose anyway - who cares?". Maybe it's just me - I'm a fan of MKP who also gets emotional. But because of that moment I hope you will succeed To the people saying FXO should be ashamed: I hate to bring this into the discussion, but Boxer is not the best SC2 player. But he is competing and is doing his best. And he cares. Does anyone dare to say that Boxer should be ashamed / is an embaressment to the Korean community? (Apart from that one reporter *cough*) FXO - even if you lose every game 0-4 (which you cannot do anymore^^) - you can gain many fans, if your attitude stays the same. Do your best and people will notice & respect that.
it's worth pointing out that everyone wants to win, koreans and foreigners included. you shouldn't discount other players because they're not visibly shattered straight after a loss - i'm sure there's a lot of frustration once the cameras are turned off.

Lead-off players have been announced, FXO is leading off with Oz. This is a DAMN good decision. If anyone can all-kill in FXO, it's Oz. But, PvP is Oz's worst match-up, and NSHoSeo has many great Protosses. However, after NSHoSeo sends a Protoss to snipe Oz and assuming they succeed, FXO can send Sheth or Optikzero, two great Protoss snipers. They can go from there.
|
I think they should of started with Sheth considering how good he is in all his MU's. Chances are he would win game 1 but lose to a zerg sniper game 2. But at that point we are up a game and can snipe them back.

Now that they are in week 3 the practice should be paying off and they're only going to get better. BoL FXO

Where's Moonglade? I think I remember him having to leave Korea because of personal issues...is that still the case? Another solid player in their lineup that they could really use :/
