Thoughts?
Jjun has the best record for 1point player in GSTL at 3-1.
SocceR is 1 of 5 (possibly 6) players in F.United. It's almost certain he'll play at some point. However, he may be better reserved as a trade-down prospect.
6 of the ten players in FXOpen are 1points a piece, so at least one are almost-certain to play each week. Consider OpTiKzErO, SLoG, tgun, and Filthy (in that order).
Only problem with the FXO theory is that you only play 4 people every week. So they could live with qxc, sheth, twilight, moonan and never touch any of those guys (especially not Filthy since he retired).
I don't think any of the FXO 1 point players are a good bet. FXO won't win many matches so you won't get points there. No idea which of them will play any given week. Even if they do play, what are the odds that they can win against established code A players in the GSTL? Not likely without a couple of months of training...
I agree with your assessment that it's possible that FXOpen only play these four players in every series. Is it likely? No. FXO will almost certainly switch up their line-up based on race match-ups, or even just to get their under-cards some experience. I can guarantee you that Optikzero and tgun will certainly play at some point.
The question, then, is whether they will win (and subsequently score points). As long as a player gets in the line-up, he has a non-zero chance of earning points. In fact, they can earn points even if they lose (but the team wins).
These factors combined gives the FXOpen 1-point players an overall better value than vast majority of the 1-point players, besides the ones I had mentioned.
Main Team 2 Ace - For 2 points I think he is a steal, good player for what he is worth 5 Alicia - Seems to open for Slayers alot, one of the best toss 1 Hero - Up and comer, beat DRG in Code A and highly rated 1 IMHappy - On IM and heard good things 5 July - 5?? This is an absolute steal :D 9 MC (captain) - Just a boss 5 San - He will be used alot for NSHS, good player 2 Taeja - Someone who all killed a team, plus on Slayers, for 2 points 5 Old GenerationS - I think they have an extremly good lineup and do really well this time
Anti Team 4 FruitDealer - Sadly cant see him performing 3 RainBOw - Never liked him 6 Trickster - Same as FD
Main Team 1 Creator After watching him play against IMMvp I have high hopes for this guy, and only 1 point! 8 DongRaeGu (captain) This guy can take on ANYONE! MVP's ace player and a scary one too. 1 Hero Dirt cheap and has not yet shown all he is capable of. Promising player. Another steal. 1 HuK Dreamhack winner for only one point? Hell yes. 5 July Varying performance, but he usually takes some games or two. When in good shape he is capable of all-kill. Solid choice 6 Leenock I think now is the time for Leenock to shine. Back to code A and hungry for blood! 8 Polt Since a lot of teams opens with a protoss, what better bet than the protoss killer himself? His TvT is also not shabby. 2 TheStC Everybody is waiting for TheStC to kick some ass. Just got out of the military, I think he is eager to show what he can in the team league. 4 MVP The big surprise of the previous team league. With DRG as their ace player, I believe they can get very far.
Anti Team 4 InCa A PvP expert, but not a good allround player. oGs has better players than him, so I don't think we will see much of him this season to be honest. 5 Killer This was my hardest choice. 5 points and so many decent players. Because of his suicide tendencies in the GSL group selection, I'm questioning his decision making :p 4 MinHasn't been at the top of his level lately. The match against TheBest was painful to watch. SlayerS have better players than him.
Trying to put much as I can the possible starters who may go for all kill, cause star players as MC, mvp, MMA would probably play only one or two games. And for anti-team, dont believe that any of those can win more than one game in a row, if any.
I think I might just go Tiger anyway, he'll likely get a streak against FXO, and then I can trade him away for another unknown player if I feel he's served me enough already, but isn't that good.
Who the hell is Tiger? I can't wait for qxc to crush this guy. The sooner FXO takes a game off Koreans the better, the haters are annoying as all hell.

Considering QXC is doing pretty poorly even in the foreigner scene, I don't have very high hopes for FXO. Some of them got far during the qualifiers, though, so they could prove me wrong.
Choya because he's underpriced IMO, and I love that he talks to himself. I think Clide will have a lot of games and I'm hoping he wins the majority of them. HuK is underpriced as I see oGs sending him out to improve PR with the foreigner community, especially given his recent form. MarineKing is my ace, he's not on a deep team so he's got a high chance of making appearances. Min is a solid Zerg, and I hope RevivaL does well. Squirtle and Younghwa are good for their cost IMO. I'm planning to trade one of my Protosses for ThorZaIN when the time comes.
I flat out don't believe in Leenock and Trickster, and Wolf will not be playing.

Tiger is a risk I can't decide on because he's so totally unknown. You can pick up almost free points with him if he's decent and streaks against FXO, but if he loses he's basically untradeable and probably isn't gonna get any wins ever and you are down one slot on your team.
Oh lord this would be insanely negative. Now I want to make a TL account for it. Hahahah.
----------
On a serious note, do any of you people putting Huk or Jinro on your teams seriously expect them to be allowed to play a game?
The only chance I would see for either of them is breaking with the TL/oGs partnership and playing on F.United.
I wouldn't be so sure about Huk, I can see him getting picked considering his current form.
HuK and Jinro aren't on the oGs roster listed on the GOM website. Just sayin'
OGS is allowed to use them as mercs, which is new to this season.
Edit : My team/reasoning. I've modified my team probably 10-12 times so far for various little changes. I mostly just tried to pick underpriced players with a few risks. rails
Polt and Guinea pig are risky to me, but not very. I will trade Polt instantly if his play is weak or if he isn't seeing a lot of play time after the first week. Polt played very well in the super tournament, but I'm just rolling the dice that he isn't doing a Forgg and slumping for the next two years after winning a single tourny with timing attacks. The other eight/nine point alternatives are all safer choices (besides maybe MMA), but Polt is the only one whose skill level seems to be climbing daily with no signs of stopping.
Huk will give team points for OGs even if he sees no play time, but I think he'll see at least a few games (why make mercs possible if no one would use them?).
July as captain seems sensible to me - he's a fairly consistent player and unlikely to be played if he's not winning. Of course, it is also going to be July... which is the one month of the year when he becomes a secret bonjwa sometimes.
Twilight seems sensible at 3 points, the only korean trained player on a foreign team, he'll likely see play time and win some games. I think Qxc has it in him to do well based upon team's comments about rapid improvement (maybe not in the first two weeks, but from the third on their regimen should start showing results). I find it odd that Huk is half the cost of Qxc, but whatever.
Guineapig, well, random makes games fairly entertaining to watch. Random is probably the race with the most potential for some formats, and the team league format drives it home even harder. (Instead of preparing 3 builds for every map, players will need a fourth build that is reliable vs random).
At 3 points supernova seemed a little underpriced. Not seeing much play time may hurt him. OGS, I just have a feeling that Slayers isn't going to do well this season (winning 3 finals in a row seems unlikely). I get the feeling MMA may go through a bit of a slump after getting dismantled in a finals match. No team seems to beat any other team out especially, but OGS I feel is the most fair-priced.
On the Anti-team, Ganzi/Killer are old BW players that had underlying strategic issues that held them back and lost them games constantly. Switching to sc2 probably isn't helping with that. (I think they've peaked). The two of them make up all but 3 points of the AT, so I just picked a random 3 pointer. (Probably not the best strategy).
Picking IM for my team because I think they will run away with that division and most likely make it to the finals. Alicia in my opinion is tied as the best Protoss with MC in Korea, and is worth 5 points so I picked him over MC so I can get some other expensive players. GuMiho is another good deal, imo second best player on fou and did very good in the last gstl. MMA is pretty much unbeatable in the Team League for some reason and I think he will carry SlayerS to victory this season again so I made him my captain. Younghwa is a great PvP Sniper and great Toss in General, IM also has a pretty easy division and he was great in the first two GSTLs. Looking at my team while picking I realized I had no zergs and Min is the best zerg imo around the 3-5 point level. Had 3 points left with 3 spots so I had to pick some 1 point players, oGsHero immediately jumped out on the list as he looked pretty good in the last team and recently qualified for Code A by beating DRG, I also needed another Zerg on my team and I hear oGs members talk about how good Luvsic is and he also just made it through the brutal Code A qualifiers. The only other 1 pointer who stood out was SocceR, who will be playing in almost every F.United match because of thier small roster, he also was a very good Warcraft 3 player and qualified for Code A. For the anti team, those 3 F.United players won't be playing for awhile so It will be easy points, when its time for them to play I can start trading them for a player on FXO since they play all their games early on or another player who is doing bad. Only week I think I'll do bad is when oGs and SlayerS play each other.

I think you might be right, I'll go with Ace instead. It's a shame how bad the 3-point players are, too. The only baller pick is Keen, and he got sent out once last season, in the finals. Hopefully my 35/36 point team will be tearing it up.
Things I've learned during constant brooding over which team to pick:
MVP and Nestea (Losira too, kind of) will probably not get used. IM has a very weak group, and while Losira and MVP were used quite frequently other seasons, they probably won't be this time around. The IM team has players around the 3-point mark that could probably all-kill Zenex, NS.Hoseo and FXO.
Stop trying to put Naniwa, Thorzain, Moon or Lyn on your anti-teams. I realize that they will cost you 0 points during the first few weeks, but their value will rise greatly as their matches come up, and then you'll have to trade them away for players with a higher value, and if you choose not to trade them for that reason, you'll quickly lose points as four of them are guaranteed to play every match.

You realize that by the time FUnited starts to play FXO is already done playing. So the FXO guys will be heavily affected by the "no matches left" like it's said in the rules how the value is counted. On the other side the Funited players haven't played any games yet so that 4 point Naniwa will be already doubled the value it was in the beginning. So it is very doubtful you will be able to trade any FXO player for Funited players since they will be pretty much worth 0

Yeah, someone else just told me this right after u posted this, thnx. Switched up my anti team to Lyn/Luckyfou/Trickster. I also switched Luvsic for IM.Happy
Main Team 5 Alicia - Probably the second best Protoss around, tends to play a lot of games in team leagues and do well. Good in PvT and PvP which is pretty useful as there's a lack of good Zergs on most teams and his PvZ is not too bad anyway. 4 Clide - Should see plenty action as I expect TSL do averagely, solid in all match ups. 2 CoCa - Cheap price for a Code S Zerg. He's probably the second best Zerg on Zenex but I'd expect Kyrix to be saved for later on. 4 Genius - Best Protoss on MVP, I think he's pretty good. 1 Hero - Very highly rated and on a team that should win a lot. Very cheap at 1 point. 3 Keen - Best Terran on his team, good in most matchups should play a lot. 9 MC (captain) - Best Protoss (player) in the world, awesome in all matchups, extensive history on owning nerds in the team league. 3 Younghwa - Good team league history and underrated. 5 Old GenerationS - I think they're the best team in the competition, even if they have previously underperformed.
Anti Team 7 aLive - Very mediocre for Code S and expensive at 7 points. 3 Check - Hasn't played well in ages. 3 RainBOw - Hasn't played well in ages.
AAaaarGGh I can`t take it anymore ! I`ve edited my team over 10 times now and i`m still doubting! The signup period needs to end soon :D
but seriously i need help for the last things that are making me lose sleep ; Alicia(P) or July(z) ? Is <ST> a decent bet for GSTL- winner this season ?

thx a buch TL
If it's almost a cointoss to you who of them you pick, go with Alicia. Both will probably play but at least Alicia is already guaranteed to play the first match. Also Slayers is still the favorite to win the GSTL, over ST at least.
Main Team 1 Hero Hero, obviously a complete steal at 1 point. I think he will pay off in more than one way. 4 NaDa The allmighty NaDa. He always preforms at least decent and he wasnt that expensive. 4 NaNiwa My sort of wildcard, I think and hope he can do well. Otherwise he will be traded away asap :D 6 Ryung (captain) One of my favorite koreans, he makes a good captain and Im sure he will bring in his share of points. 4 Squirtle Another of my favs, he is pretty cheap and he hasnt done that bad in the past. Imo the best toss on ST. 2 Taeja Another wildcard ish, altho he has done well in earlier GSTL. 3 Virus Cheap and a minor filler, he has potential. 5 Zenio Has looked alot better recently and Im sure he will shine again. 6 SlayerS Obviously the favorites again. I love Boxer and his minions :D
Anti Team 4 FruitDealer Not good anymore. Sorry Fruitdealer, I still love you =( 5 GuineaPig Never impressed me at all. 4 InCa We all know he is not good, but he wil get played nonetheless and he will lose.
Main Team 5 Alicia - Awesome. Great PvP, decent PvT, plus he is leading off! 1 Hero - A steal at one point like many others have pointed out. I can see him winning a game or two. 1 HuK - I have a feeling he is going to get to play, and I'm sure he can beat almost anyone he gets put against! 4 InCa - Ultimate PvP sniper. 5 July - Too much stage experience to do poorly, plus I know he's going to play a lot ( at least imo! ) so can see him getting a nice streak bonus! 9 MVP (captain) - My favorite Korean player. He'll be great. 2 Qxc - My favorite player. Period. And only two points? Yeah, he is so on my team! ( He would be even if he cost 36 points ) 3 RevivaL - For 3 points, I think he's a little cheap in my opinion, I can see him making some noise. 6 SlayerS - They all seem so self-less. Doing what is best for the team, I can see them repeating. Between Boxer and Cella, they have the best coaching I think, I'm sure they will repeat!
Anti Team 3 Choya - Never really liked him, hoping he does poorly! 5 GuineaPig - Never impressed me, don't understand why he costs so many points! 5 San - He's ok, but for five points, I think he costs too much, so happy to put him on my anti-team.
