Let me get this straight:
- You will see Jinro and HuK compete together with the oGs team and together with Zenio and MC crush some other teams. I for one would like to see the return of the almighty Jinro!
- You will see the return of IM in the team league with Losira, MVP and the best player in the world - NesTea
- You will see a lot ceremonies from the MVP team as well as DongRaeGu
- You will see Cella a lot with the SlayerS team - and maybe even a BoxeR all-kill!
- You will see the manner zerg Sheth showing his skill against top Koreans.
- You will see the rest of the FXO team in their fight against the worlds best players.
- You will see Thorzain and Naniwa and even possibly the great Swedish protoss SaSe (he's got a Code A spot) against the best players in the world!
- You can watch GSTL two days a week during the entire summer.
This for the cost of $25 or $40 without ads.
Just take my money GOMTV!

I think they should have started smaller. 5x the price is a pretty big leap.
You have to understand that Gomtv / Blizzard is hemmoraging money into the GSL, with not even close to enough return to be sustainable. They need to charge more for tickets (just like the NASL needs to charge people for the open bracket) on the off chance it can bring them closer to even.
As a fan of eSports, it's completely understandable. If they need money to stay afloat, I genuinely hope they receive it.
But as a spectator of GSL, I really can't see myself purchasing this. I hope everyone else does tho XD

if korean VODs are free, where can we find them ?
|
what's up with the ads anyway? since january I'm buying tickets "with ads" and up until today there hasn't been any ad at all.
I thought about passing out on this one, but I think I'll buy the GSTL and not the GSL this season

You can't access them. The only way to do that is via a proxy stationed in Korea, and then it is fucking slow. At least I am not aware of any other methods. Maybe GOM is gonna post Korean vods like they did for the world championship for free. One can hope.

Its on the VODs.

this will probably be the end of me buying gsl tickets if they keep the price this high. its way too much for too little content. i love you gsl plz lower your prices!
|
I can understand that prize and most likely i will pay it. But i don't understand why they cant come up with a subscription system.
|
Price is fine. Can't wait.

or is it possible that it's blocked by adblock? normally if ads are blocked I see black screen or something like that

Do you have any actual evidence whatsoever to support this? I have yet to see anything indicating Gomtv is losing money.

It isn't a video ad like on justin.tv, just that small picture ad that you sometimes see on youtube.

I'm getting a bit tired of having to continually pay for things. I'd rather have $15 a month or something automatically deducted forever. Or be able to pay a 6 month fee for everything.
This piecemeal payment system is a bit of a bore.

if you support e-sports, you would buy it regardless...
Yeah, support the korean-paychecks even if they're charging 100$/Season!
...NOT!

i would really like to see a combined offer 40$ for 2 code s + 1 gstl

This is too expensive. You can't just compare price per game, by that metric the NASL would be a great deal, which is clearly not the case. What matters just as much is how exciting and meaningful the games are. The old GSTLs have been concentrated awesome, every game is live or die in a single elim. The new GSTL will be a lot less intense. I'm sure there will be awesome games but the tournament as a whole will be somewhat diluted. The new format isn't bad, more team league is a good thing, but it's too expensive.

I will wait and see if I get the same amount of entertainment / excitement from the non-elemination team matches.

The ads are ones that are at the start of the vods like on justin streams, and little popups like on youtube videos.
And 3 months (closer to 4 months, but 3 GSL seasons, so same thing) of GSL + GSTL was $45, now its $55. So basically they're getting an extra 10 bucks out of everyone.
I also support the subscription ideas, turns out I won't actually have $25 spare at the start of the GSTL so I'll be going a few weeks on free. Bleh.
|
GSL/ GSTL is well worth the money.
I will buy as usual...
|
I'm sure other people have posted similar sentiments, but consider the following: Pay per view for the last UFC was $55 dollars for HD. Lasting about 3 hours, that's about $18 dollars per hour of entertainment.
Compared to other sports, the GSL is really a good deal for the amount of live content you get, plus access to the vods.
